I have been running the K&N air filters in my 2008 G37s since I first got it.I havenot noticed any problem and in fact just cleaned them at 15k miles and they didnot look that dirty. The General wrote:Any of you guys (or gals) using this air filter? I've read a few reviews online that say the 3.7L engine runs pretty rough with one installed.
I had a K&N in my '04 Acura TL for over 70k miles and never had an issue (in fact, the car got about 2 mpg more with it)...but not all cars are the same.
Thanks!
Ah...Thanks! Well, I'm not looking to spend lots money on performance parts right now (and I'm not much of a "tuner"). What I've liked about the K&N drop-ins is that they usually give a little bit better gas mileage and they can be cleaned, allowing them to last for 50k miles or so. And they only cost about $50.G_whizz wrote:They're not drop in and they're not considered CAI either as they stay within the engine department. I think Fujitas have a heat shield and the Stillen has the box.
I order my stuff from this site sponsor and always ask for Joe as he is great to deal with.
Here they are (pictured after the drop ins)

I understand, but if you have an engine malfunction can they tie it into the useof the MOD?G_whizz wrote:Unless a problem occurs that is directly related to the MOD, it shouldn't affect anything.
eg.. if your power seat stops working, they can't place blame on the filters.
These intakes are very well designed and I haven't heard of any denied warrany claims because of them. HOWEVER, I would steer clear of the K&N or ANY cotton gauze filter as the design is far from optimum. I've read quite a few informal tests and antidotal evidence and the reoccuring issue is that the cotton gauze filters have very poor filtering abilities until they've gotten a little dirty (the holes in the filter get partially blocked). Then once the filtering gets better, the performance aspect dies off and they don't flow any better than a paper filter.G37 Man wrote:

I put a drop-in K&N in my wife's 05 G35 Sedan. The only thing I noticed was a decrease in MPG.Had gotten better MPG with other vehicles.Contacted K&N and they said that they only advertise increase in performance not MPG.The General wrote:Any of you guys (or gals) using this air filter?
