I know this vehicle has the CV transmission, but what I don't know is how is it supposed to feel when it "shifts". From take off maybe at half throttle, it revs to about 5k RPM until it gets up to speed then starts a slow decline. I am more used to hard shift points so this feels wrong to me. Is it normal?

After several trips to the dealer I still have nothing. They are telling me that this is normal operation. I will NEVER believe that. If i held my throtle at say quarter pedal from take off. The trans speed/engine speed ratio would never change.....that's gotta be wrong. I well I guess I'll drive till I can't stand it any longer then be out of the Infinity business.

Yup, that's the way the CVT feels.

You'll get used to it.

Not likely. This will be the last i own. I will say that the dealer put me in a 2015 QX60.....same drive train as mine. Completely different...more in line with what a "normal" tranny operation feels like. I still can't believe that it not "shifting" to another ratio is normal.

:) CVT's take some getting used to but that is how they operate. What you describe is normal.
