I’m having trouble justifying the extra work and cost of swapping my 5lug & Z32 Front brakes (s14 rear) from my defunct hatch to my new convertible.

Besides the “cool” factor, I’m not seeing that many really great benefits. The current brakes feel fine. And I’m sure will do nicely once I get some good pads, rotors, steel lines and super blue brake fluid.

If I do swap them over, I will also need new pads and rotors right away on the z32, whereas i think i could probably run a few events on what is currently on the vert, diverting that cost a bit. Also, the wheels I’m ordering will have an extra charge for 5lug vs 4lug.

On the hatch I was always a little disappointed by the pedal feel and the extra front brake bias. The flat spots on my front tires agree with me (i wasnt the only driver)

I think I would be content just upgrading what is currently on the convertible, but my only concern is that they will be able to handle the extra weight and speed over a 20 min on track lapping session, even with the better pads, rotors, super blue, and steel lines.

I don’t think you will have any problem. Use what you have with some good compound pads and fluid. I have an old 911s that I use for track days. Everyone insists that you can not run those brakes for serious track use. Well I have not had any issues after upgrading to hawk blues and wilwood fluid.

My VG powered tube frame racecar has ford pinto front spindles and bakes. (don’t ask)Again, very archaic and inadequate. I use corbotech xp10 pads on it, no issues again.

Racers are typically forced to use stock brakes components on their racecars per rules and I can tell you use much more braking than driver school open track guys do. Next time you are at a nasa or scca race check out the PT or IT cars. Typically all have oe brakes with upgraded components (pads fluid etc…)

I've never heard or any wheel manufacturer charging more for more holes, so long as it's a standard pattern like the Z's 5x4.5, even low production custom wheel manufacturers don't charge extra

they only come in 4x114.3 but you can "special order" for $20 bucks per wheel for custom lug sizes.

And they are a very low production wheel manufacturer.
