Marine Lt. Col. Chessani gets his first step towards justice and being exonerated.

http://worldnetdaily.com/index...67434

The US Government has spent 31 million dollars unsuccessfully to try Col. Chessani. They even built a +1 million dollar media center for his case. Why the hell are we still prosecuting our Marines when (6 or 7) of the 8 Marines charged in the 'Haditha Massacre' have been exonerated?
Col. Chessani's Lawyer wrote:"At some point you have to have somebody in the chain of command, whether it's civilian or military, saying enough is enough,"

The US (and world) News Media was quick to jump on the story of Haditha, yet they have said NOTHING of this case (and the others) and verdict.

The fact is that an Officer is always responsible for what happens in his command. Regardless of whether he is involved or, for that matter, even aware of an event, he's (she's) responsible.

There is a lesson being delivered to the world with all this crap. If you were familiar with the Lt. Col Oliver North situation you'd see that guilt isn't important, as long as a head rolls. A Lt. Col is high enough to sacrifice for the cause - no point in wasting a bird Col - too valuable, and a Major isn't valuable enough to send a message. I would guess being a light colonel sucks.

The message has been loud and clear from the government and the news media, we will throw our service members under the bus before due process.

Again, how many successful prosecutions of the cold blooded Marine killers in the Haditha Massacre incidents has the US government secured?

Too true.

The US isn't the only nation guilty of this sort of thing, it's pretty commonplace. Someone needs to publicly take the rap for political reasons, and that "someone" isn't going to be an elected official, joint chief, or irreplaceable field officer.

Sucks for Chessani though.

It should be pointed out that Col. Chessani was not the commander on the ground. None of the commanders were brought on charges. They are prosecuting Col. Chessani for failure to report incident correctly. I am not making excuses for Col. Chessani, but it appears to me that the US Government has failed to bring the majority of these guys up on charges and the charges against Col. Chessani were dropped in a Military Court of Law, but now the US Government (being bound and determined to make these charges stick) will re-prosecute him again. I think this is the part that makes me upset.
