The Z is not a hatchback! A Toyota Matrix is a hatchback. The Z has something between a trunk and a liftback. The Altima Coupe has a trunk because it is a 5-passenger (like the G) and the trunk allows for more room...

...and our trunks look sexy anyways.

I think the OP meant Fastback instead of the Hatchback.

The current 350Z is a coupe as opposed to the new 370Z coming out. The 370Z was designed to reflect the older 240Z where it came in a fastback form.

I personally do not like them at all, I have two friends with "fastbacks" (tc and a camaro) and it would bother me having the trunk right there.

Given the weight of the A/C trunk lid, I think it would take a small army to open a liftback on the same car! And only some select basketball stars could reach high enough to pull it back down.
