What happens when u r driving and ur car or truck jumps timing? Does it start missing out and then back fires and die and won't start? Or does it keep running just runs like crap? Or does it not make a noise? If anyone knows please post. I had this happen to me today in my s10 I know it's not Nissan or Infiniti,I am a member here I own a 99 Q45. I have posted about it in a s10 form but no replys yet I kinda need it in the morning if there is something I can do to get it to start.

If you jump timing, any of those things might happen. However, I wouldn't continue trying to run the engine. Your best bet in there, take off the waterpump and front cover, and inspect the timing chain (belt?).

Normally you'd use a timing gun, but if the engine isn't running, that won't work well.

Are you talking about ignition timing or valve timing?
Usually when I hear "jump timing", I think valve, like you skipped a tooth on the belt or chain. If that's the case, it doesn't return to normal. There's no event that the cams and everything would spin backwards to jump a tooth back to original.

Ignition timing can jump back and forth depending on what the ECU is receiving from various sensors.
What year is the S10?

My chain jumped I wasent sure then it had just happen was just seeing and hoping that someone would tell me it wasent that lol. I replace the timing chain the cover and a few other things like plugs wires a few other simple small repairs and a new harmonic balancer it was a lot of work but really needed it running
