Im pretty excited about it, just because now i have an extra engine to play with. I got it off ebay, and its a pickup item about 3 hours away from where i live, so ill actually see it before i take it.

Any thoughts on how to get it off of my truck without a hoist? I was thinking take the manifolds and head off while its on the truck to make it lighter, and somehow lower it to the ground.

Park under a tree and tie a rope around the engine then go over a tree branch make sure it will be able to hold it. Or get a few buddies and lift it.

Yup tree is what I was about to say. Another idea is get 2 sheets of plywood and make a ramp. Have 3 people pick up the (2 of us did this) And then set it on the plywood. One jumps down and holds while other jumps and holds. Then let it slide down slowly to the ground.

me and my brother were able to lift it up with intake/exhaust manifolds:)(no transmission of course), and we by no means are heavy lifters, so you and another maybe 2 people could do it.

Im thinking what im going to do is take the manifolds off and try to lift it to the ground, then im going to take it completely apart and keep the bolts/studs organized, and get my friend to hot tank it all.
