As if all my problems recently weren't enough, somebody has hit my car. It has like four dents and scrapes on the passenger rear quarter panel just below the gas tank. IT HAPPENED AT WORK and the pos who did it won't own up to it; HE HAS MY GOLD PAINT ON HIS BUMPER AND HIS BLUE ON MY CAR. It was a truck with their tailgate down. Luckily, if it comes to it, it will be covered under uninsured motorist as it was a hit-and-run. There is a $200 deductible (I don't even want to think about money after all I have spent recently), but they waive it if I have a license plate # of a suspect. I took pictures of his truck and his plate. I'd still like to take it out on his arse.

It sucks to know I work around dishonest people . Aaaaarrggghhhh!!

Call the police, have them take a report.

Some take hit and run seriously, even if it's on private property.

Also notify your employer, they may not want a dishonest employee running about.

Lastly, file in small claims court for the damage. Filing a claim with your insurance is just gonna raise your rate.

I did all that, and once the police heard the 'suspect' deny it, he didn't care about the paint proof. The insurance said it wouldn't affect my rates because it was a 'not-at-fault'.

It's gotta be at least $2,000 in damage. Are the rules the same under uninsured motorist as all other, in that if you own the car and title in hand you can get it fixed where you want. I want the Infiniti paint back on it.

Wow.

Well, that guy's gonna have to look over his shoulder every day now for the rest of his career. Seems like punishment enough.

Integrity is apparently "out of fashion".

I swear we need to have a mobile Q45 retaliation unit (MQRU) for times like this... Nothing could be more intimidating than 5 Q45s coming after someone....

22.5 litres, 20,000 lbs, and 1500 horsepower...

Do what AZhitman says now! If police won't take paint sample form his car, get their badge number and report them!

A ruined rear quarter is more like $4000 to properly repair and risks totaling your car.

I feel sick to my stomach. So...depressing. I was so motivated to do my valve covers and stuff this weekend. I had taken off 5 days to allow enough time to do it. Now this stupid shiit's gonna rob me from it.

So what do you think?

Any body shop mechanics on board want to quote the damage? Near the door, if you open it, the door frame is damaged as well.

Its a shame you are not near Jersey, I could have this fixed for under a grand.

It really is not that bad a good body man can have that out in a jiffy.

It still sucks that it happen to you. I would kill the f**** prick.

How you managed not to beat the hell out of him is beyond me. The blood boils in my ears over a door ding!

I'd keep pursuing it with the cops... keep hounding them and maybe you'll get some results. If not sue him...

I think Wes's idea is "golden" - sign me up if we need to mount up a MQRU.

I'd talk to your employer. Maybe you can get the prick fired. Who knows, they might even take the cost of fixing it out of his paychecks. They might cover it themselves as goodwill. Who knows?

If you turn it in on your uninsured motorist and give them name, tag #, etc.. They'll sue him to recover their damages afterwards. Saving you the hassle. The problem is that with cars our age, they may total it.

The alternate is that you can fork out the $$ to fix it yourself, then sue the guy yourself.

Sucks man. I feel for you.

I'd call the PD, speak to a supervisor. Ask him if you can email him those pics.

Talk to the employer as well.

Last-ditch, let this retard know you're taking him to court if he doesn't turn over HIS insurance information.

Personally, I don't know if I could show the restraint you've shown. I'd likely wait for this chump by his truck with a "friend" (and get myself in trouble).

The insurance won't file a claim until I bring them the accident report. I'm out $200 on the deductible. I think the officer might have known the owner of the truck, after he measuered my paint on his car and the mark on mine it was a perfect match; then he says he doesn't think the truck did it. But, he took down all his information anyway, and I got it too.

I went to his parents house today to put the heat on and his truck was nowhere to be found. He's like "What, you trying to pin this on me." His parents looked nervous after I told them it was filed as a hit-and-run.

I got some quotes today, there in the $1,200 range. I've heard of a 'future decrease in value' due to a car being in an accident. How do you go about adjusting for that? It was clean up until this happened.

Still waiting on the accident report though, on the bright side I don't have to dish out $4 for the report because they didn't have it for me as promised.

I definetely don't want to return the 'favor' in a way that he can just fix it. ie-body damage. I'm thinking more along the lines of something he can't turn in to his insurance. It's burning me, but no retaliation for now. I will wait a week or two to see if by chance there is another blue truck that pops up at work. Who knows, maybe I'll just let it go

Keep up the pressure and someone will crack. If not the baboons *** that hit you or the police officers supervisor. I know I would have freaked and gone postal right there at work in front of everyone... That's why I'm Mr. HeatMisor!! Redheads have bad tempers....
