I had to go Nissan Dealership b/c the nearest Infiniti Dealership is 45 minutes away and i was short on time this week.

The tech found the following problems and gave me the following price quotes on parts:

1. replace valve cover gaskets because oil is leaking and hitting the exhaust mainfold---$866.00 + tax

2. replace power steering rack boots $412. + tax

3. Repalce IDler Pulley- only the AC Pulley- $166.00 plus tax

4. Oil Flush $99.99 Plus Tax

I knew of some of the problems but havent gotten a chence to get around to the problem. I knew I had a fluid leak but i thought it was the automatic transmission fluid because of the burning rubber smell. Is replacing the valve cover gaskets is essentially the plenum job? Should I replace all thepulleys or just the AC pulley? If anybody can prioritize these problems, please advise. Oh yeah I am getting a brake and caliper upgrade any suggstions. The 17" inch Inifitini 6 spoke rims came in and they are beautiful, anybody suggest tires for them?

I will be doing pulley replacement myself and possibly some others if they are easy enough.

Motorvac=bilstein=envirolution... I did the research theyre all the same...

Valve covers are not essentially the plenum.. Theres a lot of labor.....

All these things you listed are fair prices or slightly higher..... They are all DIYable if you have a little bit of know how

the price for the rack boots seems way too high.parts from joe are about 50-60 if i recall, plus 1 hour tops to install and align-200-300 for entire job as i see it.

I got a price list from Joe of all the parts that I will need and they are a fraction of the price of the parts from the dealer. The labor is wha tis killing baout the estimates.

Joe's Prices1. Valve Cover Gaskets $10.69 each I need 2 of them2. Power Steering Rack Boots $13.01 each I need 2 of them3. Pulleys $41.90, $30.24 and $36.41 for all three pulleys, I'll be doing that myself

Looks like it involves removal of the cover that goes over the coil packs, the power transistor, the coil packs themselves, and all the wires.

I am no longer repairing the Q by myself. I am bringing it to a family friend who is a master mechanic for Mercedes. No longer have anytime since I started my home improvement and interior design company. Full time job takes 60 hours a week and the business takes up the whole weekend. Weeknights is a study 3 hours each night of researching and working on my Q mods.

So the Idler pulleys are getting replaced, valve gasket covers are being replaced, power steering boots are also being replaced. and about to give Wes a shout for the stock spark plugs.
