I finally got some free time and applied a couple of coats of Meguiars NXT-Tech wax on her. I also used Mothers clay bar treatment first.

4 hours and one noodle arm later....

The results speak for themselves!

I knew I would catch some reflection in this one, but didnt expect it to be a friggin mirror!! (this is the door)

If youre anything like my buddies, you will want to make fun of my "finger toes"

LOL - Jay, I need a favor of you.

Can you get me a short writeup and a bunch of pics of your car (no toes, please)?

Send the whole shebang to [email protected], I have something in mind I think you'll like.

wow.. absolutely amazing! i just hope the M paint is better than the paint they use on the G35 and 350Z... Its nice paint but its MUCH too thin!!!

I dont even detail my car that good, and I consider myself about as lost in the infiniti world as anyone....

in that last picture, it looks like a mirror.....! Doesnt look black at all.. not many people can say they can do their hair... while looking at their car!

Jaybird,

This m45 will shine out in the "blackest night". Congratulations also on your purchase. I realize, the story on the circumstances why we switched to a V8 seems similar to other m45 owners. It was "love at first drive". It's like having sex for the first time ... but better . If word goes around how appealing this car is, we'll be able to write a book by next year.

So you took your boss for a spin, eh. Don't be surprise if you don't get a raise this year

WOW, the car looks fantastic. I never heard of that wax before. Is it available in in auto stores, or just the web, etc? Also what does the clay bar treatment do, is it like a pre-cleaner? Regardless, it looks 400%.

Now, as my M35 is black too, I have to get that shine going.

PS: your gargage looks preety nice too.... your making me feel bad !! I've benn trying to clean it up for about 3+ years now

Clay bar gets rid of all the grit and dirt in the paint, even when "factory-new" ... makes it smooth as glass!

Then the wax (although I prefer Zaino - its not a wax and lasts longer ... see my post on the topic right here) goes on the car after that clay bar treatment and really looks stunning!

Larry, have you posted pics yet? Maybe I just missed them...?

The wax came off the shelf at Auto Zone. Not sure its anything TOO special, but it did the trick. Now ill have to see just how long it lasts...

Edong, you are correct, I blew the raise. Jealousy just isnt pretty!!

Thanks, I think.... HAHA!! I get almost the same feeling on a DAILY basis. I highly advise breaking the bank and going and getting one!

Working on something like $40,000 in student loans - a new M45 is some ways in the distance. I'll have to deal with my measly Q for new.

Jay,

Thanks for the reply. No, I have not posted my pictures yet, because I don't have a darn digital camera yet (ouch). Anyway, I'll borrow one and do it soon, I promise.

Gotta tell you your car looks fantastic. Have a good weekend. ljc

Just got my M35 a week ago and love it.

I heard that you should wait 6 months before waxing a new car. Is this true? How long did you have your car before you waxed it?

Thanks.

Welcome to NICO!

There are definitely proponents of the theory that new paint is soft and needs to harden before applying any wax or other (better, imho) products like Zaino. This is perhaps a good opinion, but I am not sure that it is a certainty. On the first-gen Infiniti Q45, I would not have worried about this, since the paint was so awesome. On the newer models, the paint does not appear as outstanding, there may be value in waiting a short amount of time.

I would suggest looking at the date of manufacture inside the engine compartment or on the door label and go by that - anything over 3 or 4 months ought to be sufficient, I would think!

FWIW, my 2003 M45, even when bought new from the dealer, had been manufactured over one year prior to the sale, so doing the clay bar treatment and following it with Zaino seemed totally obvious to me!

Jay, that looks incredible. Awesome pics. The one with your reflection blew me away. Now I see what my M45 Sport is supposed to look like (we have the exact same color/options). I just wish it would stop raining for one weekend here in NYC so that I can spend some time to clean and wax my car.

Zin,

Honestly I dont know, I had the dealer do it and I was so excited I really didnt pay attention.

I know its a lighter shade than darker, which is new for me. With a black car though, I think it kind of evens out.
