Edit: I have converted this thread into my build thread. Hope you like it.
Hey guys and gals, just wanted to introduce myself down here. Been inhabiting the truck section for awhile, but I finally found what I was looking for in a project car: 1987 200sx XE Hatch

Its the redheaded stepchild of the silvia group. Needs a lot of work, but I have been researching and planning this for nearly two years. First up is suspension work; springs, struts and shocks all around, s14 front brakes and z31 master cylinder swap, s14 steering rack and tierods, etc... Then a vg30e swap and a few bolt ons for any extra power I can get. Plan on keeping it pretty mild.

Anyone else down here bringing back the 80s?

Sounds like a fun project. There was a guy around my area who completely rebuilt his s12

I had an '89 240sx one time. True story. It was later cubified.

Minor progress updates:
Getting ready to start ordering suspension parts, but I need to hammer out a few more details. Setup will be Tokico Illuminas all around on Canuck Motorsports springs. Also, started on my wheels.

I picked up a set of s13 teardrops and began the polishing. Faces will be full polish and the sunk teardrops and center will be painted satin black. Doing this all by hand, so progress is slow but I have to say I'm pretty impressed with results thus far.

Wheel on the right is how they came, wheel on the left has about 5 hours into it so far, only remaining thing is final polish which shouldn't take more than about 30 minutes. The picture really doesn't do it justice. Hopefully I can get them all done this week and get tires mounted up this weekend.

WOW! Amazing progress on the polishing! I see 200sx's around my area every now and then but its mostly people who don't really bother with upgrading and just drive/ beat it up. I can't wait to see how this turns out!!!

Problem with S12's is the rear suspension is a pita. Not as easy as s13s onward to tune/get coils on.

Very true, its pretty limited from that standpoint. I'm ok with that though, I dont need coilover level of performance for a nice daily driven street car. More wheel progress too: About 80% on all four wheels.
