i have a 1990 nissan 180sx has a ca18det in it and the head gasket went out cos it got hot took it in had the head shaved and got a metal head gasket not cheap anyway now i gots probs the mec says everything is fine so i drove it how it plyed up took it back timing was out by a tooth got it back now its gut less like big time i am running 12psi boost. wen i put my foot down it goes nowhere and lags till 3000 to 4000 rpm wen i put my foot down it sounds like a subaru so its missing or something but wen i put my foot down slow it builds speed up a bit quicker still nowhere near as good as wen i took it in wit a ****ed head gasket and on idle its got a lil flutter in the exhaust note i have no clue wots wrong and eery time i take it back he puts it on his machine and says the machine says its fine but its not the power loss is massive and it sounds completly different to wen i took it in first time

The timing is probably not where it was before....or....could the ecu be in limp mode for some reason?

Maybe he fixed a vaccuum leak that was making you boost higher?

As you aren't telling us of a boost difference, I'm assuming you don't have a boost gauge ?

He might have also not done the ignition timing correctly.

Also, if he didn't fix the timing belt properly (line up all three marks on cam pulleys and crank), then you are probably running a 'very open cam overlap, that will result in gutless behaviour.

Sounds like your cam timing is still off.
