Nice re-fab on the S13 sills. I need similar work done to my S12 right behind the wheel wells on the floorboard. Any advise on how to takle that area? Tools and tricks? I will NOT paint my own stuff tho, I suck at that...

I cut the rot out using an angle grinder and a chisel to split any seams

Shotblasted the rest

Made cardboard templates

Tack welded it all together

Seam welded it all

Cleaned up the welds with an angle grinder, primed it and applied seam sealer

Before, seam across sill below door

After

Hope that helps

Slikaznricer, at 45 I am somewhat older than you Be patient though, I have never bought things I couldn’t afford, never used credit cards and it’s paid dividends in the long run. There are lots of thinks I would like. No1 being a 240Z but I can’t warrant spending the huge sums they ask for them over here. It’s about $20K for a "reasonable" condition example. I paid $12K for my S14 5 years ago, it’s the most expensive car I have ever bought. Your time will come, just be patient. Oh and good luck with the new job

PMSL - ******* myself laughing

The S14 rebuild is in a different league to the S13 I appreciate people can’t be bothered reading through 60 odd pages in the link I posted on the first thread. I have been told it takes a few hours Here it is in summary though

Starting point, condition under the back end

Support shell and remove the subframe

Remove all rust from underneath the back end & mask up the bodywork

Prime, spray with 2 pack paint then stonechip

Shotblast all the suspension parts, subframe, hub carriers etc

Spray and refit

If you would like me to carry on posting a brief description of what I have done, just say so and I will continue

Pete

As far as the undercarriage is concerned did you get it coated with the zebart stuff?

It gave 286 "British" HP and 286 Lb Ft of torque on a calibrated rolling road with the following mods

Walbro fuel pumpColder iridium plugsCusco catch tank

I fitted those to prevent detonation

Apexi induction kit3" front and back decat pipes2 1/2" twinbox exhaustBlitz boost controller at 14.5 psi (about 1 bar)

Ignore the blips on the graph under 2k revs, those were the gearchanges.

Who says you need a front mounted intercooler?

I got rid of the boost controller long ago though for a number of reasons. When it's finished it will just have the Apexi induction kit and the exhaust mods. Suspension wise it has Nismo S tune, 17" rims on 235's. I still have all the parts to return it to totally stock though.

As far as the undercarriage goes I sprayed stonechip on it. This could very well be called underseal from your parts. I basically replicated what Nissan did when they made the car. I did however spray box section wax into the chassis legs and inside the rear subframe. I used aerosols for this with long attachments to ensure complete coverage
