So I just swapped to an SR after my KA took a dump, and got it running tonight. Runs alright and idles decent, revs fine under no load.

Problem though... When I drive it, I feel like there's very little power. You know the feeling like you're rolling at idle with the clutch out and mash the gas? It feels like that all the time and I dunno why. I can hear the turbo spool and BOV blow off, but the whole time it feels like a motor does at only 1k rpms. There's just not any power.

I'm thinking it has to do with the turbo not spinning the greatest right now (the oil was pretty gunky and the turbo was almost impossible to spin with my hand, but it's broken free since and spins a little better right now), lotsa back-pressure because of this and also some intake resistance. Any input is welcomed.

Also, the stock boost pressure sensor and wastegate solenoid... Are these important? The wiring harness done by Wiring Specialites has plugs to these, and I hooked them up, but did not run any vacuum lines to either. They're just kind of... there.

Thanks.

I would do as suggested, check for any boost/vaccum leaks. Did u set/check the timing on the motor? And are u saying that there is no vaccum line hooked up to the waste-gate actuator on the turbo? If so that doesnt sound good. Is this ur first swap? Make sure u have everything thats supposed to be...connected...theres usually a reason for everything.

Boost/vac is just fine. The timing wasn't touched, but I'm going to set it tomorrow morning. The wastegate IS hooked up, the solenoid is not. Yes it's my first swap. I just really dont feel any power down low. Seems to be plenty after building boost.

Maybe it's just a characteristic of the SR?

Me too... I'm thrilled that this thing is moving.

Wish me luck on the 4 hour road trip tomorrow.

wait are you telling me that it feels as if you are in neutral reving your engine (a.k.a. not moving) while you are actually in gear trying to accelerate the car?

and if im not mistaken that means that after building up some boost you DO feel power?......sounds like a worn clutch to me

that or didn't you say that your turbo seemed to be siezed?

let the engine cool and see if it spins freely now

timing timing timing. do the CAS restab, then set it with the light clipped to a spark wire between the plug and coilpack.

i thought about both of those things posted above me..the turbo being siezed and the timing..im not arguing with you guys just saying why i dont think that is the problem...the turbo is boosting fine he said so i dont think thats the problem..and he did not mention any misfiring and or hesitation so i dont think its the timing..once again not arguing

You ran compression test right? Is it in the range?
