Just swaped in a RB20det (hell of an experiance) and have a transmission question.

Discuss the RB20, RB25 and RB26 series engines.

It is the loadest trany I've heard with winding gear noise. Is that a bad sign? We changed the fluid which seemed fine when it came out. Maybe the guy had strait cut gears in it but I'm not that lucky.

No, it's not supposed to be like that if that's what you are asking. Probably a worn bearing. Get a new transmission.

Doesnt sound like a bearing but first gear shouldnt sound like reverse. Getting a new trany would be a horrid pain since we just swaped this motor in. Other than the noise it seems fine.

i can get you a new RB25DET transmission from Nissan for 1600 series 2 transmission. After you blow the first one up you can always upgrade.

I'm thinking of runing thicker gear oil like lucas and it only seems to wine in first gear.
