Poor thing. That makes me sad like a Back Street boys reunion tour. It's usually number one that goes south though, at least every spun one I have seen. That sux, can the machine shop salvage the crank or it too scored up?

spinning numnber 2 is weird, check the block for oil passages being clogged and clogged turbo lines, replace the oil pump one time too,.

Just a quick question but is everyone spinning bearings due to over-revving or what seems to be the problem? If you dont over rev the motor and it has good oil pressure should I have to worry about spinning the bearings? thanks - Jake

ps. what oil would you recomend? royal purple 10-40 or mobile 1 ?-50 ?

Yourmom- didn't you shut yours down right away? I would think the machine shop should be able to clean the crank and rod up. Maybe have to use an oversized bearing, but I don't think so.

kapower06-It seems to mostly be due to age. All of the spun bearings I've seen on here are non-rebuilt motors with original oil pumps. The revving doesn't seem to have much to do with it. Yourmom's car is a good example. It's VERY evident that whoever had the motor before in him Japan, didn't take good care of it. The oil coking on his motor is pretty moderate.

Thanks float, I just recently pruchsed a motor from Dee and he said the motor Iam recieveing is in very good condition and looks to have a round 45k mi on it. Should I be worried? also My first thing is to hook up the boost and oil pressure gauge which I already have. What are normal readings someone told me around 15-20 at idle and around 70-75 at about 3krpm?

Mine was at least twice that bad. Mine didn't look reddish brown like yours does. Mine looked dark brown. And to think the rings were bad!

I pulled my engine apart last night and my # 1 and 2 main bearings look like C-rad's picture. When I pulled the pan off I noticed two what looked to be casting piecs about 2mm dia. in it.

I searced all over the engine and the only plce I can figure it came from is the cylinder head casting around the head bolts.?

anyone know of any good methods of cleaning the oil passages/oil system while the motor is in the car? like a pressure flush or whatnot?

I've never heard of it being done while it's in the car. If you pull the motor and take it to a machine shop, they'll "hot tank" it. Which cleans out all of the oil and coolant passages. I could be wrong though....
