OK, just installed:-Koyo alluminum radiator-Perma-cool high-performance alluminum finned(6) electric fan, with thermostat controll thingy(probe)

now, yesterday, my car was fine, never went above the middle on my temp gauge. today I was dirving allong and looked down, all the way at the last "H" marker, so I stopped and oeppend the hood to see if my electric fan stopped moving..nope, full blast and the upper radiator, and hose were very hot. So I pulled over and let it cool down a bit(shut it off).

then it was fine, drove to my destination, let it sit and revved the engine, stayed in the middle...

then I drove about 10 minutes, BANG, temp meter shoots up in like 1.5 seconds to hot, hold there for about .2 seconds, drops down slowly...

so I pull over about a block away(nearest parking lot) and popped the hood....fans blowing again, and rad is hot, I can feel a lot of air moving from my fan....

so I grab the BOTTOM rad hose..cold as ice, allong with the bottom of the radiator...

heres my question:-is this the thermostat not opening, and when the temp gauge goes down is it reading steam pockets from overheating?-is my gauge screwy?

this is on a 1993 240sx SE, M/T see my sig for other mods..thanks!-chet

You didnt bleed all the air out of the cooling system. You either need to located the air bleeder and use that or tip the car 30 degrees up in the front and let the air bleed out of the radiator. There is an air pocket in the cooling system causing you to over heat. I would also make sure you didnt do damage to the block and head by running it that hot.

THANKS!I did open the rad cap and let it run for a bit and saw some steam come out, even after I thought it was cooled off a bit, I see a little screw near the top radiator hose, is that the bleeder screw..I think it is..-chet
