As mentioned I just recently purchased a 1974 Datsun 710 for $2,000. It appears to be in amazing condition. One owneer since its purchase. Very little to no rust. Engine runs great with no leaking oil. I'll try to post some pics this weekend after I pic her up. But I had a couple of questions first...

#1. good deal? i feel like i could have gotten her for $500 less. But then I didnt want to negotiate with this gentlemen as I felt the car would go fast and well it would be a slap in his face to offer him anything less then $2000 for the care he kept this car in.

#2. Any 710 owners that have recommendations on some immediate mods or changes I can make to improve on this fine automobile? Keeping cost in mind.

#3. Does anyone have any links to a good source for parts for a vehicle of this type and age?

Thank you in advance...I am super excited to be joining this community.

Welcome to NICO and welcome to the Datsun family!

Congrats on the 710 purchase, $2000 sounds quite fair for a well kept vintage Datsun. As for parts, there's probably not a ton available but it all depends on what you're planning to do. Replacement/maintenance parts can often be had at local parts stores. I've gotten quite a bit of stuff for my 1971 521 from places like Advanced Auto Parts to bring the maintenance up to date.

Can't wait to see pictures of it!

finding parts for the engine shouldn't be hard...some of the performance stuff however gets pricey.

sounds pretty good for a one owner car....hell, I've never even seen a 710 around here much less one for sell.

there is the link...lazy as noted below...

i am hoping this works. as i really am lazy right now and dont want to hunt for the way to post pics. i feel like my grandfather with computers at the moment. she is still running...although i have run into one problem. i lost the keys the other day. anyone know how one might go about getting a new key without a spare to make a copy of this...i am assuming it is going to be an expensive issue?

That is a cool 710.

Rust is reparable. I have seen really bad cases repared. Usually it looks worse than it really is. Another option would be to find a donor body. There are cars like yours, with good suspension and engine components, bad body. There is the other side of the coin, good body and bad components. Finding a good 710 body wise not running for cheap will allow you to transfer all your parts. If you are going to attack the body work, best thing is to get everything off the car, interior ( seats, carpet, dash board, headliner ), exterior ( bumpers, lamps, fenders , hood, trunk lid ,windshield and all glass and trim ,etc ) engine and transmission , eventually the suspension and axle....place the body on stands , and get to work. You can get body panels from junk yard Datsun 710s, a trunk lid, and even a hood. Never give up.

I have a Datsun 710 as well. Datsun 710s are cool. Unfortunately I could not see your car, . That link allows only members of My Space to see it. I am not a member so I can not see it. Parts are available. The front suspension is the same as in Datsuns 510 and 610. The rear suspension is not complicated. I would like to see pictures so I could offer some advise. Please post some if posible.

I am sorry that it has taken me so long. And well I only have one for the time being. I also forgot to mention that it is the 710 station wagon. which to some may not be nearly as cool as the 710. But pics nonetheless. Also I included a pic of a blue 710 station wagon that I saw while traveling in west Texas.

I've had mine for about 6 months now. It was in such amazing condition I have had only one problem with a blown fuse. I take it out to run errands and on occasion ~40 miles to the gulf when I surf. It has been an absolute pleasure to drive and I enjoy just how simple cars used to be.

Hope someone enjoys. Thanks!

Hi.

I have not visited Nico Club in a while. The topics I am interested in ( Datsuns B210, 710, 610....) never seem to have followers in here .

Good to see your pictures. I love wagons, very cool, specially for Surfing. I do surf too, I will take a few pictures when I go Surfing. Waves are not happening now, but soon storms will bring them in! I will get a wagon as soon as I find one, for Surfing, need the space for my big cooler where I store my wet wet suit and boots, as well as easier to throw the board inside.

Nice wagon. Congratulations. You can see my rides here at car Domain:

http://www.cardomain.com/id/jaimesix

I invite you to open your Datsun 710 wagon page. !

I saw another interesting Datsun in my nbeighborhood, a Datsun 200SX S10, I will take my 710 and take pictures of both together.

There is one 710 wagon in nice shape around, but everytime I see it it is moving the opposite way. I will snatch a pix as soon as it is feasible.

There is a Japanese Classic Car Show in October in California, JCCS, I will be there. Check for other Datsuns. Again, congratulations, you have a fan here in Redondo Beach, CA!!!! Keep in touch.
