Above is an ebay link to the car I purchased. It has 85k miles and I picked it up for 13,650. I was happy about the price and thrilled about the car!

I fly to Houston to pick the car up from NY Yankees A-Rod's dealership. I will then drive the car back close to 700 miles.

I have already ordered a short ram carbon fiber intake and filter. I had read about the lack of performance expected from the 340hp engine and thought maybe this would be a good start. I have since read about the ITB reprogram, and throttle replacement which I will consider doing if it hasn't already been done.

My question, is there any feedback on putting an intake, or exaust on the 02's and what kind of hp increase can i expect?

Thanks, Alter-ego

Unfortunately Nissan redesigned intakes in 2002 to squeeze out another 2-3 HP and the same with very efficient exhausts.

Unlikely that the loudest obtainable [intakes/exhausts] will add more than 3 and surely less than 5 HP.

In 2003 Nissan bumped the Q diff gear from 2.9 to 3.133 to improve acceleration......current M45 is up to 3.313.

2002 Stock it is still a few tenths faster than a stock [even with ecu mod] 90 Q45 to 60 mph thanks to lighter weight 3840 pounds of the CIMA body.

Careful about mods as Nissan has already squeezed what's safe and durable out of the redesigned lighter duty 4.5

Probably needs new shocks and rubber bushings in suspension by now save mod money to restore to as new first then mods if you must!

Thanks for the "responsible" advice. I couldn't agree more. I have noticed many on the board reccomending to change all fluids first. I still do not understand the whole oil burning issues.

Save your receipt so you can return it. No discernible gain from repalcing OEM CAI or exhaust.

Concentrate instead on replacing all the fluids before your trip and correcting other deferred maintenance.

You will have to use Nissan ATF.

Obtain Infiniti Dealer backed extended warranty, not third party. Verify 3,750 OCI by reviewing Infiniti Dealer peformed service history, which you should have done already.

Welcome to NICO.

I wonder if there may be a few extra horsepower/torque available with a custom made exhaust for the 02-06Q, as they are the only Q series that are not a true dual system from the factory

Precats and cats act as a buffer/damper between exhaust manifold and exhaust system.

The only way to know before changing is to measure the back pressure at 6,000 rpms...............prior to precats.

Easy to calculate mathematically what each fraction of a psi backpressure creates.

Graph torque peak to redline psi, then measure the same after cats.

Be sure to test both banks as there is never exact perfect symmetry.

Measure back pressure at cruise you will not see any at all since flow is 1/10 that at torque peak WOT rpm

Something between 5-7 psi at the primary O2 ports would mean little can be accomplished with exhaust.http://www.thrashercharged.com....shtmhttp://www.se-r.net/header_exhaust/general.html

Good luck on your new purchase. Not to worry you but i was going to buy that same vehicle until i did a title check and found that autocheck suggested to have the vehicle professionally inspected because of this...08/01/2005 HOUSTON, TX Motor Vehicle Dept. REGISTRATION EVENT/RENEWAL Reported registered/titled prior to storm event in FEMA designated storm area. We recommend a professional vehicle inspection to confirm no storm damage. This is what came up in the title history. If you want i can send you the whole report that i downloaded. Just lookin out for you bro. Probably not a problem but i just got scared when i saw that. I decided to go with a different car.

I appreciate the offer. I have the same report. It was inspected for flood damage and there was no indication of such damage. The report just means that the car was registered in a FEMA disaster area before the hurricane. Houston did not have flood damage from Katrina or Rita to the same extent of New Orleans. This statement will show up on any car registered in this area during that time.

The other thing is that the car was driven for 30k miles after this occurred. I feel pretty confident.

Have you found another car to go with

Car was pristine. The Alex Rodriguez dealership is first class all the way! Picked me up from the Air Port in a sweeet Mercedes, felt like a rock star for second! LOL

Absolutely love the car. Controls were a little tricky but I'm slowly learning how to use them.

Only problem I found with the car was the rear shade gets stuck in the down position and won't come up. I had my wife push the button and pulled slightly on the shade and it came up, but when you put it back down it just gets stuck again.

Make the dealer repair it before you drive away.
