I just bought a 2005 G35x Premium Package for $23,300 with 68,600 KM

I live in Canada so the AWD was required for me to have.

But I'm wondering if I got a good deal. Originally they were asking for $24,998. It also comes with power train warranty (up to 2 years or 40000 km)....

But I don't feel as confident in the purchase. I don't know if I got a good deal or not. What do you guys think? I have never bought a used car before so I was already hesitant in the first place.

Also do you guys think I should add a comprehensive warranty for $2400 for 4 years?

Yeah the 23k is the higher end for 05's. At least here in Ontario. It actually the lower end isa around 17k with 97000 km.

But isn't that too late to think about it. Maybe next time a little more search before buying could save you some $$$$.

I love warranty so I would vote for it but see what others got to say about it.

BTW congrats and welcome to Nico.

the powertrain is standard. unless they threw in an extended warranty or some strippers, you certainly overpaid for the car by about $4,000.

however, the car is certainly worth it. the car should last you at least another 10 years or 220,000 KM.

You guys are mixing up the $$$OP paid in Canadian $$$ you paid US $$$ Yes there is a country up north....and we don't live in Igloos Do the math....

OP, I think you could have gotten it for 2-3k less, last year I was looking for 06 Coupes and saw most of em going for around 25-28k (~40,000KM)Coupes are a little more expensive naturally. Got mine for $25,500.It had 17,000 KM (no NAV, but everything else)

I got my 2006 G35 sedan with 40K on it for $13250. And I had trouble to convince the lady who works in DMV that it's the actual price of the car. Paid a lot more tax than what it should be.

Nothing was wrong with the car, the seller found another job in a different country.

Thanks for all the feedback. I do think I over paid...but all the cars I was looking at around the city were around the same price. I did find a couple on the lower end, but they were not from an Infiniti certified dealer so that is why I was somewhat ok with the price.

I'm thinking of adding the extra warranty for peace of mind for about $2500. If I don't use it I get $2000 back...so it might be useful. The last thing I want is to shell out extra money fixing the brakes etc...

Did some of you guys have any problems with the car once you bought it?

take your car to an infiniti dealership ask for a detailed inspection. They will tell you everything about the current condition, which part has been changed or needs attention. I did that and I had been told the brake was after market.

Not to scare you but this is my experience so far:

- Replaced drivers side wheel bearing: FIXED- Pinging at low RPM: 85% FIXED They reduced timing by 2 degrees- A vibration/mechanical noise from the transmission/clutch when i'm not moving. I know the G makes clunks; They say its normal.- Oil consumption obviously: Apparently its NORMAL (1-1.5L per oil change)- A tick coming from rear axle: FIXED (new bolt and lube)

Now I think I might have a problem with master/slave cylinder. don't know yet. Have to do a fluid replacement first (its dirty)

This was all done on warranty, so it just cost me some time - still annoying though

But I STILL love my G like it was the first day I got it Its like a high class girlfriend; You HAVE to take car of it, or you will lose it!

Brakes are usually wear items and are not covered under warranty. Not to be rude, but you sound like an uninformed car consumer.

Don't compare your purchase to the prices that we in the US paid. The money has different values and for some odd reason, the Canadian pricing for these and Nissans is a hell of a lot higher. Not sure why.

I just pulled up VMR Canadian Used Car Prices. It shows that your car should retail for around $20,650. So you overpaid a little. Sorry. Do your research on prices next time and now enjoy your car!

This is because the canadian market is smaller, so prices are higher...and yes it sucks

We pay more for everything!

I can't remember the exact number, but it was around $120 dollars. It was kind of too much, but it made me feel safer right before the purchase.

Congrats on your purchase.. you could have saved 10K and got a 03-04.

However, there are many similar prices for lower mileage G35's in my area. Especially at the dealers. If you look for a private sale next time you may avoid this situation.

Welcome to another canadian, the conversions and math always messes me up, I can always remember how many Litres I pump in my car, and how many Km I drive, try and convert to mpg for these guys and my head hurts

This is a great site you will like it here

I don't know if the warranty is worth that much IMO. I'm handy with tools though. I fix and do all the work on my G.

Who is the warranty with? What are the terms?

I purchased a 3 yr/36k warranty thru Nissan for around $1,100 with 100 deductible.

Have used it once to fix AC Compressor and driver seat motor.Unfortunately, G's are not as reliable as what you would think from a japanese brand. But, we still love them!!

Thanks for everyone's reply. Yeah I probably over paid even if it's from a certified infiniti dealer. And yes, I'm not a car person that knows a lot about cars. I usually use them to get from point A to B. And yeah I ended up getting the warranty for peace of mind. But...you're also right. I should just enjoy it and so far I am loving the car. It's fast, sexy and great during snow storms...lol.

Reading the forums, and really liking the car makes me want to do things to it. I will definitely get advice from everyone before I do anything or make any purchases
