clean, why keep the SOHC? its got a higher compression ratio.. which isnt too great for turbocharging..

anyways, why not just buy a junker DOHC and build it outside on a engine stand? reduces downtime/headaches.

i guess thats what im planning on doing mine like..

My two cents.. Dirty engine!! clean that baby up. I think the color/two tone thing is just not working are you going to paint it some sexy color? BTW Wecome!! Good job though body looks clean and that's what's importaint if you're planing on changing the engine anyway!

wth!? two tone is HOT.

just need the right colors

and to whomever said "why keep the SOHC?" it's not neccesarily higher compression. they were produced in two different CRs 8.5:1 and 9.1:1

aside from that they use top feed injectors stock and there is only one timing chain to deal with. it's obviously his call but there are a LOT of redeeming factors that make the SOHC a good candidate for forced induction.

to some extent. there are good things about each motor IMHO it's better to stick with whichever is in your car. I'm happy to take all of the SOHC motors off of the hands of people that don't want them though

just stick witht he SOHC you will love it. its just as capable as the DOHC up till about 500 hp. do some head work on the SOHC and you will be just as good as the DOHC.

But he wants to swap to a manual. Can his 91+ transmission bolt up to the SOHC motor?

Babowc, definitely not stock internals...

Clean the engine up a bit, turbo the sohc and have fun with it! The sohc is getting a lot more love lately especially from JGS Precision, http://www.jgstools.com/turbo/ka24et.html

People don't give the sohc engine it's due. It's easy to work on, the oil pump is on the outside of the engine, emissions stuff comes off easy, aftermarket pistons from dohc engines work in it at 1 point lower compression (8:1 instead of 9:1, perfect for turbo), changing cams costs half the price because you have half the number of cams and the list goes on.
