Hey all, so I just picked up my 2007 M45 Sport w/ 86k on it. LOVE IT. 1 owner, well maintained by an affluent female...a few more cosmetic blemishes than I would like but still well kept.

Of course, I'm already thinking of my first few mods. I'd like to plasti-dip some of the grill and some of the emblems on the trunk. There's just too much chrome for my taste. Is debadging an option? I like my my vehicles simple and clean.

Next, I'm thinking performance upgrades. I know these cars have minimal aftermarket support which is good, because I'm a fiend lol.

What's the best intake to get? RC2? And where should I buy from? TunerzStore?

Next is an exhaust. I've watched all the youtube clips. I think the flowmaster sounds too unrefined for this car. I like the magnaflow, but the mufflers just don't look right under the car. Never been a fan of Megan but they seem to sound and look the best. I just hope I don't have alignment issues. I'd like to take the car to a custom muffler shop to get custom piping, maybe an X-pipe made to maintain some backpressure and low-end TQ. So the thought was to just use the Megan axle-back, rather than the mid pipe too. Sound like a good idea?

lastly, lets talk Tunes. Seems like the only one to use is UpRev. I don't think I have a dealer near me (Raleigh NC) so how do I get the tune? Is it a flash-based deal? EPROM? Wasn't there someone on the forum that does it?

Any help/tips would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Welcome to the M family.

R2C is probably the highest touted intake company. Many of us with the Y51 (2011+) who have the V8 (5.6L - me) are waiting for them to make one for us.

Exhaust, I ran a one-off MXP SP exhaust so I can't comment on that.

Tunes: Yes, UpRev is the way to go. As for how to tune if no dealer is near by...message Seymore64 (I think that's his username) on here. He's an UpRev tuner out of WA state and does it all via email. Very responsive and a great guy. He's did my tune for my M56.

Congrats on the purchase, I loved my 2006 M45 Sport before it was totaled after it was rear-ended. I am enjoying my new to me, 2013 M37 though!
Ilya is right, many of us have/were running the R2C intake - prolly get the most bang for your buck with an exhaust and then UpRev. (Shameless plug - you may want to check out the parts I'm selling in the classifieds: I have a R2C intake for sale, along with an aluminum lower engine shield, search Tollboothwilley and you can see the quality of his product)

If you don't dyno your whip locally, then Joe Waldal (Seymore4) can hook you up with tuning and will work with you to dial in the best settings for you. Many guys have used him - super professional and his prices are quite competitive.

Welcome to NICO.
I had an 07 before it was totaled by a drunk driver. Loved it and still miss it. In my sig you can see pics of the mods I did to my 07 and my 09. As for removing badges, The rear center emblem has guide holes drilled into the trunk lid so if you peel off that emblem, you will have two holes showing. The Infiniti name plate across the trunk lid can be painted or dipped - see my pics for what I did to my grille and trunk lid. Removing the M badge from the trunk lid makes a cleaner look as well.
I am not a fan of intakes. Seems like lots of money for no performance improvement but they do look absolutely great to the eye. If Craig has one for sale, I recommend you grab it so you can save on the expense and he is a reputable member you can trust for the purchase.
I also added caliper covers from MGP , night shades to my rear lenses, a roof spoiler, side window vent shades, a trunk spoiler, sport pedals, and eyebrows to both my 07 and my 09(also in my pics). I covered my center switch (air/con, NAV) with carbon fiber vinyl and replaced the volume knobs with aluminum. I changed tires to 255/45/ for a wider look. I added Phillips DRLs to the front bumper.
I know you will enjoy your M. Bets of luck with the mods!

Thanks fellas. Glad to see this forum is still active, at least with the regulars. I've always spent time on forums with the cars I've owned in the past.

So first "mod" (more maintenance) was last night within an hour of picking up the car. It needed 2 new front tires right away so I went ahead and slapped on 4 new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3's. I've had these tires on cars in the past and love them. The car was in need of an alignment as well so I had that done too.

I know these cars are limited performance wise and that even w/ Intake, exhaust and tune, 20-30hp at the wheels is really all I can expect. I've had my share of fast cars but at this point, I'm just looking to liven this beast up a bit.

Larz, your CF wrapped trim came out really nice. I might look into that as well.

Where did you guys get your roof and decklid spoilers? I don't have a body shop hookup yet (just moved to my area) so Ideally, I'd like to find a set already painted.

I will definitely be talking to Seymore4, probably towards the end of the year.

I bought my roof spoiler for my 07 and my 19 here:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Painted-M35-M45 ... qZ&vxp=mtr
Just tell them the Infiniti paint code for your car and it will match perfectly.

*** my 09 is pearl white and they warned me that the OEM paint code may not match when applied to surfaces other than body panels. They were right - not 100% match but so close it's not noticeable

I purchased the trunk spoiler for my 09 from my dealer. They happened to have one in stock that was my color code so I bent over and paid their price. You can usually find OEM trunk spoilers and other OEM parts on Ebay. There are actual Infiniti dealers who have Ebay stores where they discount the prices and ship for free. I get my OEM fluids, air filters, and other parts at a good prices this way.

http://www.tunerzstore.com/ is the place to pick up deck lid spoiler. Look under INFINITI ACCESSORIES. Mine was a perfect match(diamond graphite).
DO NOT throw away the rolled up paper in the box, it contains the template!

I just ordered a roof spoiler from Spoiler King. They sell on Ebay and Amazon as well.
