After months of searching I finally found my m45. Anyone here have any suggestions on what maint I should do first. I know the history on the car but it would make me feel better to have a tech take a look at it as well, I was thinking of doing a 30K milage service along with trans, rad, and diff flush along with a fuel system clean. what else should I get checked out? I really just want it for my own peice of mind. Its super clean and doesn't have any unusual sounds but I guess I just want to know its a-ok on the mechanical side of things. Also whats the popular lowering springs for these things since the eibachs are gone? Oh its a black on black loaded 2004, will post some pics as soon as I get some new wheels.

There is a pretty healthy list of things that need to be done at 30k. Get it done, but first go to your nearest dealer to see what has been done prior to your purchase.

this looks accurate:

Rotate and balance tiresScope and adjust (wtf is this?)Inspect suspension for leaks. Inspect engine for leaksReplace air filterCheck tire pressureInspect drive beltsInspect vapor linesInspect fuel linesReplace engine coolantInspect exhaust systemInspect brake lines and cables. Inspect brake pads and discsService batteryDifferential oil serviceCheck operation of lightsFill fluids as neccessaryReplace wiper insertsClean and adjust brakes

some of this can be done on your own.

I hope they know to use Nissan Fluid J only for the transmission!!! This is important to preserve your warranty ...

thanks for the transmission tip, I got it back yesterday they did the whole 30K service and inspection, plus the transmission flush with the j matic fluid, synthetic oil change, cooling system flush, fuel system clean, and they changed all the belts as well, yada yada, i pretty much had the whole works done and they gave it an outstanding bill of health. So I got the piece of mind i wanted and got out the door for under $600, the service rep was awesome about helping me out. I'll post some pics when I get it detailed this weekend.

Congratulations on your new purchase! Thats a really good price you got on the service from Nissan. My Infiniti dealership wants 150 just for the belts. May have to look at the Nissan dealer.

Congrats on your M45 purchase.

I did not know the Nissan dealer could work on the 4.5 motor.

We used the Nissan dealer for our old I30 and QX4 but that was because they have the equivalent on their lot (Maxima and Pathfinder).

Some can! But be careful ... talk to them and ask all the right questions first. Often, the Nissan techs have never seen the Infiniti V-8 engines, and do not know the right things to do for those models.

I checked the nissan dealer first and it turns out most of the larger dealerships have a few infiniti master techs there just for that reason. Saved me about $500 bills socal dealers are expensive to begin with. Anyway I took it on a little road trip from sandiego to phx this weekend and it was a dream on the highway, 25 mpg at 80 mph. It seems the faster you drive the smoother the ride.... but the wife wasn't to pleased driving 110 through the desert.

Standard dealer partial drain and refill or true mechanical fluid exchange?

All new fluids and filter will give you a good baseline.

Also you are probably not that far from
