When I was younger I restored a 1982 Datsun 200sx....and just happened to run across a 1980 yesterday and just had to have it....hoping to swap something into and make it a drift car....not really sure what yet but we'll see what happens....here are some pics

this is a picture of my old one when I was 15-17....it looked twice as bad when I got it

that suit is baller.

I love those ugly cars...I wanna get an S110 chassis 200 at some point.

I need to get my S12 running and on the street first though I guess.

yeah that suit was definately a throwback we were having some kind of disco dance at school back freshman year.....but if all is well I want it to look like that with some deep dish wheels a little lower...maybe a wide fender and quarter....and caged out what not full drift setup

the red one took me about a year all together with interior and all....exterior and engine was about 6 months....I had the body prepped and painted 4 months after I started....I think the longest process was just waiting for parts, looking for parts....and I ended up getting a parts car....swapped the front end but it was still kinda banged up so I had to do a lot of bondoing and filling pieces in

this particular model came with a z20e non-twin spark motor....which they changed to a twin spark motor and then later in 82 they switched to a z22e

I saw what I thought was a late 80's model 200sx at the junk yard.

nice wheels and all, i am going back to get some starters, ill snap a pic.once I looked under the rear and saw that rear differential!

my Imagination went wild, why doesnt this car compete directly with the toyota ae86!? what happened.

yeah but the toyota had fully independant rear suspension and the datsun had a solid axle which in that particular setup didn't allow it to handle that well....if you find one in decent shape buy it....its defintely worth at least driving one once....they are a thrill to own

woah woah...you got that COMPLETELY backwards.

the AE86 Corolla has a solild axle 4 link suspension where as the majority of the S12 chassis 200SX's use a semi trailing arm IRS.

the worst part is the lack of aftermarket for the S12 BUT you can modify S13 or 14 front coilovers to fit...you essentiall just swap the whole front suspensions out.

the rear end...Megan was dabbling with making coilovers or you can take on the task of swapping in the rear subframe from an S13 which requires new shock towers to be fabricated.

motorswap wise...anything that'll fit in an S13 will clear the S12.

I haven't seen an LS in one yet...might have to do some cutting on the hood...but it'd probably work too.

its not an s12 though....the s110 has a totally different suspension setup, but I have seen a few people swap in the s12 suspension under the s110

yeah the one I saw was probably the last year of the 200sx. it was in great shape.

I am going back to get a s13 starter ill take a pic.

they're nice but the after market support is NOT there. compared to the ae86,

which to me is silly, but with enough moneyand dedication it can be done.

yeah but I have owned a few in the past and always though they would make a sick looking drift car...but thats why I am swapping motors and putting new suspension....thats really the only thing I will need support for and there are tons of it for the s13 and the ka and sr depending on which way I go. I just picked up another 240 today I am pulling the suspension off of....might take the motor too if I can get it running

there are some pics of it....not bad for 400 bucks and an se...gutted inside but it should work for what I want it for
