Hey all, just picked up a 99 t and I had a couple of questions.

1) The car has 126k on it and the engine is ultra clean. Can I use full synthetic in the vh41 or will i get buildup? I had a vq30 that I used full synthetic in and it was great, but it caused a lot of grimy buildup around the gaskets as i kept using it (used full synth for 40k, which is four oil changes ). It could have been from age (it was approaching 180k), but I'm curious if anyone here has used full synthetic in these engines for any length of time and the engine stayed clean.

2) Will 18x8 +30 and 18x8.5 +33 fit without looking silly?

3) Will a steering wheel from an 01 fit on a 99? I really like the look of the wood on the wheel of the 01.

1.) If course a VH41DE does fine on synthetic. Never heard of a grimy build up, but 10K is way too long between changes. Do you think your crankcase gets any less contaminated on synthetic?

2.) Yes they will fit. Most important is weight, strength and hubcentricity. Of course all is nor naught if you cheap out on the tires or the suspension and brakes aren't in A-1 condition.

3.) Sure, but how do you know when you should wear driving gloves or not?

Welcome to NICO.

I have used nothing but syn since 41k, that was from 2000 on in my 97', the PO did regualr dino juice changes.

Those rims might fit, but a much better and safer option woudl be to get a set of 18" Infiniti rims off a newer 3rd Gen Q45 or FX35/45. You can even use the 20" off FX's and you get OEM quality and assured fit.

The wheel could be swapped but no easy task I'm sure, probably not worth it in the long run.

And your engine is still clean with no excessive grimy buildup around the seals?

These are OEM 350z track wheels from Ray's. I just wanted to make sure they wouldn't rub or stick out awkwardly.

My engines is so clean it is not even funny. I have had my mechanic at 60k say that the engines was very clean and than when I had a major service at 90K still very clean. I do not burn one drop of oil EVER and no oil appears anywhere under all the plastic.

I understand the Z rims, do you already own them, if so make the work, not sure exactly what you have to do spacers wise, but if you have not bought them yet skip them. they are okay but made really for a lighter car and you don't really want to stagger a Q.

But if you own them I'm sure they are workable....someone else know more about that fitment?
