Just picked up a 280zx......

Car was abandoned on the side of the road for a week. Me and my buddy pull up to it, we get otu and start lookign at it. Out of nowhere this van rolls up and it was the owner.Says fuel pump went bad and got tired of the car. Should be going to get the title tomorrow for it. Sits in my driveway right now. Got some minimal rust on it. Nothing major. By this weekend the rust will be gone.Going to see If i can get the car to start tomorrow with my magic.Current known problems: Gas tank has a leak, fuel pump issue, and ignition had a screwdriver attempt.......

ok your post is a bit fuzzy but I gather you bouthe some randome 79-83 280ZX, is it a 5 speed? 2+2? turbo? T-Top? some details about the car might help a bit

as for the fuel the FP's can tend to go bad as they are well ove 20 years old, the tank leaking is a new one to me but it's very possible as it is quite old, and the ignition? am I to make out that a screwdriver serves as the key? you stick it in and turn it? also pressy easy to fix, but removing the anyitheft screws securing the column lock is a bit time consuming

It's going to the junkyard. Rust seemed to be just surface. But upon arriving to my house, There is more rust than there is car. It is a 2 top with 5spd NA and I have kept the tops. Car is still in my driveway.Getting towed l8r this week. If anything is needed let me know.

save the 5 speed trans, it's worht about $150 any badging thats still in good shape seems to be sought after as well, I hate to hear of another Z gone but the sad thing is too many have been too neglected for too many years
