Hi I just picked up a 89 240 sx with the original ka24e engine for a fixer upper It seems to have some issues some of you can maybe help me with. When I picked it up it had some hesitation problems but i just changed the plugs, wires, cap, rotor and fuel filter and seemed to fix that.

It idles at about 1300 once its warmed up which seems pretty high once in a while it idles up and down from 1200 to 1400.

When im accelerating the shifter seems to wobble around quite a bit idk it thats normal? but im going to check on all the mounts when I raise it up tomorrow.

It is a manual transmission and when I put it in reverse the idle drops down from the normal 1300rpm idle to about 800rpm any reasons for that? Also idk if it is a cluster malfunction but when I am in neutral sitting in my driveway revving the engine the mph gauge goes up and down along with the tach.

When I turn on the headlights one one light pops up and a good 30-sec to a minute later the other light pops up that one serious lazy eye. and suggestions? maybe wiring issue?

Thanks

not sure about the high idle and reverse issue, ecu consult could probably tell you why its deciding to keep the idle so high.

wobble is probably a motor mount and the mph issue I'm thinking is a bad ground. Where the ground issue is might be hard to find. If it mph matches tach exactly maybe crossed wires?

does the mph read correctly when your driving?

headlight is probably just a bad motor which a few people in classifieds have been selling fairly cheap.

Hey thanks I added a few ground today to the engine and it seems to run a little smoother. I am currently not driving it right now I just want to make sure everything is cool before.Only problem with the engine is when the enigne is cold and I rev it, it blogs I have to let it warm up for a few min. then seems to be fine.

I looked at all the motor and transmission mounts today everything looks tobe connected right the only thing not connected is the bracket from the exhaust to the transmission mount, (missing)

The mph goes up and down following the tach when I rev sitting in neutral. but driving on the highway the gauges seem to work fine, wondering if I swap the cluster it will work fine? the clover is cracked and looks a little beat up.
