i just got back from buying a vert i found on here, in Texas.great deal. awesome seller... no regrets.

the vert needs a good amount of work and things replaced to fit my standards.it needs a new topdrivers fender and head lighthoodnew dashnew door panelsalmost a whole new interiorcant really think of anything else right now

car leaks oil, brake and power steering FL. so i need to fix all of those.

when i test drove it it did not smoke and reverse worked.when i got back to littleton i could not get it off the dolly because it would not move in reverse... so i think im just going to get a new KA and a 5 speed. instead of fixing the old engine.

i have a ton of left over parts from my other 240 and im going to put all the stock suspension bits from it on the vert.

also i think i should have pulled the drive line. but we just drove it face first on to the dolly, and threw the car into Neutral.is that bad? maybe why reverse does not work anymore?

i went to wal mart got some of the vinyl and im going to make a makeshift rear window untill i can get a new top.... well enough talk heres the car.

ill post progress pics and such as things happen

my other 240

Way to go coming to that old girl's rescue and welcome to the Vert forum. It sounds like you know your way around these cars so we look forward to her progress. As always, SEARCH for more info and POST write-ups of your progress. By the looks of your other 240 we'll benefit from your prior experience.

Wow!!!! You live in Texas and bought that? I didn't think 91 verts existed.. I thought 92-94...

You should have bought mine. Sure you'd have to redo the transmission but uh you're planning on doing that anyway...

His hatch is a '91, not sure what year the Vert is, but yes it would be '92-'94.

To the OP welcome and good luck, plenty to work on.

I guess I'm lucky then... I didn't have to drive very far at all to pick mine up.. Then again I probably won't be able to sell it anytime soon either...

Nice grab, but it looks like you have your work cut out for you. Vert might be a 240 at heart, but they have their own list of problems with the top and windows that far surpass most HB and Coupes. But you now are among the few that are blessed to have one. Welcome and good luck with the vert.

Starter isn't hard to fix nor is it expensive but I'm sure you weren't looking forward to that. I actually had to replace my starter pretty much right after I bought my car.

Welcome to the vert board! Keep us informed on your progress. Sorry to hear about the starter. Soon as I finished my KA rebuild I had to pull the starter and replace it as well.

I think the 95 is swappable I'd have to ask my friend was telling me that once...

more progress, not the progress i wanted, but it had to be done...

so to sum it up fast, car bought in Texas.... no back window.... stray cats= a interior that they had pee'ed in and i guess there were kittens born in there... so pretty much everything with cloth is trashed.

so i tore the seats out. then the carpet and it smells miles better... figured why not tore the sound deadening out as well idk if cat pee can our would soak into that, and did not want to take a chance that on hot days it would smell.. so away it went...

as for carpet, i will be eventually replacing it, i want this car to have a full interior since my other one has 2 seats and a dash. So after i get a new top and the engine running right and a 5 speed transmission. ill be replacing it.

also put a new sony cd player in it that has a ipod connection thingy but does not work with my iphone ill have to break out the old i pod i guess. also put new speakers up front i took out of the "race car" long ago and had sitting around. i have some amazing 6x9's i wanna put in the back. anyone else running them? is it possible to find the room in the panel?

got 1 s14 drivers seat so far. bolting that in tomorrow. i have some new door panels coming to. but i might wait till i take my drivers license test in a few weeks to hack the pillers down. and i need to do some more research on mounting the seat belts.

ill snap some pics tomorrow.. i feel i got ALOT done today and im happy about how smooth everything went. i have a feeling things are going to get bumpy once i get under the car and start messing with the engine leaks and transmission stuff.

anyway. thats a long post so ill end it now

That's screwing disgusting... That's like dried oil that **** should be lubricated to the max and it looks just wrong... Did you check oil before doing that trip? Maybe a leak? That looks soo dry...

that plastic is most likely your timing chain guild. ill bet some money on that one....

and if it is, that means that there is even more of that all around the rest of the engine, with that, i would surely rebuild the engine or just get a new one.

Welcome to verthood. I would say that towing the car that far threw out reverse though. Your not supposed to tow them over 35mph Glad to see the progress so far. GL in getting her back into shape.
