I just ordered a top for the vert. The old one is getting dry rotted and moldy, so it's definitely past due. In fact, I had a shop tell me 3 years ago it needed replacing then.

Once it's here in a few weeks, I'll do a write up with pictures and all that jazz.

Sweet! Can't wait.

Hey I've been wondering this for a while. Instead of using a plastic window, can a glass window be put there instead? Or one of those plastic windows that can be removed via zipper for cleaning, putting the top down, etc.?

That thief will need some long a$$ arms. I'd consider one if my vert wasn't my DD.

Um, no.The top is designed so the plastic window will fold into the space it's designed to sit in.Now, if you can design a rigid plexiglas window with a hinge in it, I'd be VERY interested in that!

Isn't it like $325 something from eBay top guy? Are you going to replace headiner too? If it's also old, you better do it at the same time.

I've seen late 60's Mustang convertible w/rear window with hinge and I was very impressed. The owner said that was the original design from Ford. I'd love to have hinged plexi glass back window.

Total price was a hair unedr $400 after shipping. And the eBay guy wanted around $265, but it was a top only and no rear window. The guy that was selling the combo before was selling for around $350, but he's dissappeared. I've been checking ebay for 2 weeks and haven't seen him. He was a one man operation and would make the tops on demand then ship them out. My friend used him and his tops were nice. I'm taking a bit of a leap of faith with topsonline. But as far as online retailers offering 240 tops, they're the only ones I could find.

And you could in theory put a zipper window in the rear to swap a glass window in. My friend was playing with that idea for winter time. He's had plenty of miata buddies do it.

Hey Tenkawa,I am also in the market for a new top as well. I found a place online that sent me some samples that seemed well run. I also liked that they had different color choices for the Verts as well.

Here is a link to their sitehttp://aabestco.com/about.ihtml

Just in case things don't work out with your first contact..

Hope it helps....

The top got here while I was out of town yesterday. I'll get some money shots f it later, but I have to say I'm impressed with the quality. And topsonline.com does include a printout of the install instructions from the FSM supplement.

I'll get a good writeup and whatnot done once I get the project underway.
