I just called Stillen and ordered some new SS brake lines because they've got a pretty awesome deal for R50's. Stillen Stainless Steel Brake Lines Her'es the story with the Pads and crazy new rotors.

3 weeks ago I called EBC Brakes(30 miles away from me) to ask about pad life expectancy. My brakes started squealing really bad the previous week and was thinking it's time to swap and machine down my DBA Rotors. I checked my service records and I changed them out 16K miles ago which isn't a lot but they are performance pads and I do offroad. After measuring the pads the EBC rep came to the conclusion the time has come. He recommended that I call Place For Brakes in Florida for the best price and they would place a drop ship order that day (Wednesday) and I'll get them by Thursday and can perform the work Friday.

I ordered an adapter for my buddy's Motive brake bleeder system, got some new 6ton jack stands, brake fluid, etc. Thursday the pads didn't arrive. Friday I call the company that I ordered them through, they put me on hold and called EBC. EBC gave them some BS excuse that they're dealing with the Labor Day rush even though Labor Day hadn't hit yet. I called the following Wednesday(1 week later) and they still hadn't shipped out even though they've been in stock since April. Over the weekend my brakes started grinding. Great now I've got scored rotors all because EBC hasn't come through.

I called EBC to explain the situation and they were extremely sympathetic. They asked for pics of the rotors and said that they would replace them for free. I took the pics and got approved. I explained that I'm currently running DBA slotted rotors and want to replace them with something as good. So today I received 2 beautiful Sport Rotors that retail for over twice as much as my current DBA's. I was so stoked until I realized that THEY STILL HADN'T SENT OUT THE PADS! Are you freaking kidding me? So they'll send out $550 in free parts but not my $110 original order. I called immediately and they had someone grab the pads and walk them down to the shipping dept and watch them leave the facility. I got a call from Place For Brakes about 20min later telling me that it's going to be another week because the pads are too thick. I called EBC and they said their last shipment of pads were all way too thick and had to be sent back to England to be shaved down. Place for Brakes was top notch with this whole situation as well and said that this isn't the first time the shipping dept has screwed up an order. They also said that they've never heard of any brake company giving out rotors because they screwed up so that definitely gives some credit to EBC.

Here's a pic of one of the rotors, just beautiful!

Tomorrow I'm having my turbine sensor assembly replaced in my trans and I'll get to jump in there and work on the brakes while it's on the lift. Thankfully the shop owner owes me and has no problem letting me do one side while one of his mechanics does the other free of charge.

Lucky ..... I have to do the same to my pathy this winter (rotors, pads and lines).. I,m presently looking for what is available for rotors around here. For the goodridge lines, You did not go with the extended lines ?? I know with the ac springs, when I flex at the rear, the rubber hose is pretty much extended to the maximum and even behond....

sucks about the pads but if i got those rotors for free like you said, you might as well order pads from a shop that carries them for more $ you came out on a good deal it seems anyways, and i like those rotors. Tell us how the braking is compared to the DBA's cause i have slotted and dimpled EBC rotors atm.

I was really happy with the DBA's and I'm hoping with the brake fluid flush, new lines and these crazy sport rotors my braking performance will be amazing. Do you know what the part number is for the extended lines? I haven't had that issue as I've got the OME springs but will be changing over to the AC's soon. I really need that extra lift for the 33's.

They retail for $275/ea which I would never pay. Place For Brakes has them the cheapest @ $261.11/ea but I bet you could get another 5% off. You can find them for your '99 Here.

Yeah, extended lines may have been a better option for you. But hey its new stuff and stronger. I just ordered my 27in long rear line for when i put in my SFD. Got it from KORE Industries, pretty much the only place I found online that would make me a custom line and had the metric hardware.

I don't see myself doing the SFD, mostly because I've got about 220K miles on it and can't justify putting any more money into it for upgrades(except springs). Do you know the lengths for the lines needed for the AC springs? Supposedly the ones I ordered will take 10-15 days because they're all made to order. I might be able to submit my own lengths but wouldn't know where to start.

Awesome thanks! I just emailed 4x4parts but their customer service is such crap I doubt I'll get a reply. I remember calling last year asking what part# a certain set of Bilstein shocks were and they refused to tell me AND they were rude about it.

nah you cant blame 4x4parts for that. They took the time to research / test / R&D to find which bilsteins fit, now they cant just go give that info out for free - it would be stupid on their part (from a business point of view).

At my work, it takes me a ton of work and time to research parts, and then the customers sometimes ask for part numbers so they can cross reference and try to find it elsewhere for less, so i just make numbers up. Maybe add a few letters in the mix for flavor. They wanna waste my time, so i waste theirs in return. I dont work for free!!

hahaha thats really true, its a real pain to help bargain shoppers, I mean sure we want people's business, but the time we take answering stupid questions, low balls, and doing research to help the customer, its just not worth it for $3 profit.

Unfortunately I deal alot with ebay and 50% of the problems and people asking for troubleshooting are people asking about someone else's products and don't even intend to buy from us.

If you guys need custom lines I can probably get them made, it would help if there is a few of you interested. and brakes we have them as well :D not as cool as the DBA ones but anything you want x drilled, slotted, dimpled.

Dude you rock! I just emailed the ebay seller, who is only about 90min from me, to see if he has the extended kit in stock. I called Stillen and they have to check on the part number and expecting a 10-15 day turn around. Stillen also said that when they order the lines they come coated in PVC to protect them opposed to the exposed stainless. Is that really important? I've got 1" strut spacers and 1" rear coil spacers so I'm guessing the 4" extension kit would be appropriate. Thanks for the help!

if you check under your truck, you will see that the rear lines are solid from the wheels and they come to a middle junction, where you have a single rubber line going back to the brake system.

Well I finally got the pads last week, 3 weeks to the day of the initial order. Here's a few phone pics, I'll take some cool macro shots of the destroyed rotors because they're gnarled.
