Hi guys.

I went a full 180 turn from wanting CA to SR to RB25 now I just order the RB20DET. The price is right and I'm pretty confidence from reading the posts, I can do the wiring diagram. Anything I should do? I'm on a budget so I'm tryin to not replace things I don't need to.

Things I'll replace:

New motor mountsTune- up parts: spark plug, oil filter, fuel filter, etc..new clutchresurface flywheelwater pumpaccessories beltstiming belt timing tensioner and idle pulley.

How does look? I should be good to go right?

I need to indent 1/2 inch to 1 inch where starter sit. Wire up the KA dash plug into the RB wireharness, extend MAF and O2 sensor wires, and cut off two plugs connected under engine bay by the battery, and wire the KA plug-in harness to the RB wireharness.

DOes this sound right?

Thanks.

sounds like u've done a good amount of research, that's good. Look into possibly replacing the oil pump. mine was fine, but you never know what kind of condition these engines are in.

good choice on the 20

Thanks. So I'll add oil pump. Those things are like $300+

I have a question, while I have half the thing sitting there, should I replace the gaskets, with OEM rebuild gasket kit and new ARP head bolts?

I was thinking of just scaping the oil gaskets off, clean it really good and use a scotch brit to clean it shinny on the block and head. Then proceed to spray with copper spray and OEM head gasket and so forth?

Is it necessary or I'm safe to skip this step?

Thanks for all your help.

It's not the pump that goes bad. It's the snout on the crank is not big enough and slips. Keep the revs under 8k and you should be fine. Just do the maintenance the motor needs and the car needs. A bigger radiator should be on that list.
