Just wanted to followup with my earlier posting here and let folks know I did go and order the Tokico shocks from Infiniti of Scottsdale. The guy on the phone was very helpful, and the price was great - actually on par with the pricing I'd seen at lowball websites that never had anything in stock.

It's worth noting that the IOS websites give far higher prices, as they're only quoting (apparently) the OEM shocks online, while the Tokicos are quoted over the phone. It came out to $215 for both rears, with boots and shipping. I'll need to split the purchase up and order the fronts next month or the month after, but I feel like I'm off to a good start.

You are, but be sure to inspect and probably replace other bushings for anti-sway bars, links, etc. Gaiters and bump stops (inclusive) are of course always necessary.

The one thing I -did- get from those Auto Parts Bin scam artists was a set of bushings for the rear. Only four times the usual cost, too. Fortunately, as my Q is a clean, rust-free one, I don't think I'll need to replace too much this time around. My biggest hope is that the springs are still good after having ridden on bad shocks for a while.

Springs should be fine. Rubber deteriorates in prescence of heat, O2, ozone, UV, water, dirt and grit, etc. Time is sufficient alone to degrade rubber elasticity.

It's surprising how good the rubber bushings look, until you compare them to new ones!
