Hello everyone.

I just ordered INJEN intake (SP1977P) for my Altima Coupe SE and I just have a few questions.

1) I heard that the MAF wires might rube against the hood b/c of its location. Is this going to be a serious issue??? I already had a bad experience before with MAF and Intake. I had berk v2 intake for my 05 Altima 3.5SE. For that gen altima... you have to reuse MAF housing on intake piping. and that housing is made of plastic. Well... a bolted part of that pastiic broke and got sucked into intake getting stuck in the throttle body (Had to get blown MAF replaced and plastic piece taken out costing $900). I just dont want to go through that sort of things again like the wiring coming loose after long period of vibration.

2) Just curious... how much of performance gain will I experience with this intake? I already have nismo catback installed.

Thanks~ ^^

P.S. I didnt go with Fujita b/c I found this injen on ebay for $200 shipped.

1) no it won't rub2) in the winter you'll relly feel a performance gain, in normal times you'll feel better mid range

^I can't speak for the 3.5, but the Injen for the 2.5 was redesigned so it wouldn't rub. The very first versions DID rub on the hood, but the changed the design just enough so the newer models have no rubbing. I'm sure they did the same with the 3.5.

Oh they did change the design. Well... I ordered it from ebay for cheap... $200. So who knows which design I'll be getting. The part number from ebay is SP1977P. I wonder if the part number also changed with the design... if so... I should be getting the new one since injen site part # is the same.

by the way... beautiful rims blacknwhite

I got my injen for the 2.5 back when it came out, i never bolted it on because of the rubbing issues posted HERE ON NICO! Supposedly they changed the MAF placement though...

I decided to go with a fujita as a result.

Yeah I know. I could've got fujita for 150 shipped but I wanted Injen since I always knew the name. Also... 200 shipped for injen was the cheapest almost by $40. I could've waited NISMO "CAI" but somewhat knowing NISMO... it'll be just AEM intake renamed for NISMO like the last gen. Last Gen... NISMO CAI was just AEM CAI renamed into NISMO with by-pass-valve standard. I'm pretty sure samething will happen. I might be wrong though.

You have the 2.5S you said. Not many people I have noticed have to 2.5S in the the 6-speed manual transmission but I want to get the Injen Intake and was wondering how does it sound? Performance gains? And... why does everyone get the CVT's??? I got a manual for the true thrill of racing and this car stock is pretty damn quick. Those cobalt SS's are a joke to me. Let me know about the intake and others peoples opinions please

That's what i'm saying. Why do SO SO SO many people get the CVT?? I think thats the dumbest thing they did in redesigning the Altima. The 6spd is what makes the car shine. I run with 2 of my buddy's '06 Spec V's. they pull a fender on me. Spec's have short gears and we have crazy long gears. Now if it truely was a Cobalt SS, you would've gotten beaten. But the Cobalt is still not a fast or nice car. Now for the sound of an injen intake on the 2.5 is quite nice in my opinion. But as for performance, only significantly noticed on COLD nights

Yeah... I would've went with MT if the dealers around me had one. Everywhere I looked... all CVT for 3.5. I did find couple 2.5 with MT but no 4 cyl for me.

On a side note... man whats with people with MT looking down on people with CVT ?? hehe j/k

oH! and welcome to NICO!!!

I went with the K&N Typhoon Intake that just came out. I used to have a different cold air intake that ran all the way to the wheel well but I got tired of having to take the wheel off to recharge my filter. Also, my acceleration sucked in the summer time (the aluminum tubing really didn't help). Anyways. the Typhoon Intake is great. The tubes are huge and provide a lot of mass air flow and the filter is boxed off by a chamber that receives colder, fresher air from the fresh air tube located behind the grill. Best of all, I don't get too much of a difference with hot or cold days. K&N boasted a gain of 6.88 whp and I can definitely confirm that. If you're looking for a safe, dependable, consistent and clean looking short ram/cold air intake, I'd say K&N is a great choice.

When i got my A/C with the M/T it was one of 3 in my entire state so i was lucky. When i found out that someone had test drove it already i said i will take it and wrote a check on the spot haha and surprisingly the place where i got it was close to home but damn if a manual in the altima coupes are so rare and thats another reason i got one. I deff love my M/T!!!!!

For the '08-current Cobalts 260hp is pretty nice, but the older models are a little lacking in the power department.

Yeah rub it in, mr 6 speed. Before you guys get too condescending about people that buy the CVT, realize that between 10-20% of all Altima Coupes produced actually come with a 6MT. This translates to the fact that when I got around to being able to get one, the closest NEW 6 speed V6 A/C to me was 612 miles away from where I live. Given I had 80,000 miles on my Spec V, I didn't want to gamble a 1200 mile round trip on possibly being able to get a good deal with some dealer in Tampa, FL.

You 6 speed drivers don't quite realize the gem you have. They're incredibly hard to find, especially if you're in a pinch for needing a new car because your current one demands a couple grand in maintenance and repairs. I've noticed the northern US and Canada gets MANY more 6MT A/Cs, especially since I've joined NICO. Around here (northern AL), you can barely even find Sentra Spec Vs because there just aren't many people around here that care enough about having a MT. I like having a manual, but just didn't feel like spanning the globe in search of a manual. Plus, after I test drove, my patience grew quite small. lol
