After much waiting, thought, and a few questions posed on this forum I went to my local Infiniti dealer today and preordered a coupe. Went for the 6MT sport with Nav, Premium, Technology, 4 wheel steer, and rear spoiler. Exterior color is Blue Slate and interior is gray. The only thing I was uncertain of was the interior color. With the Blue Slate you could only get black or gray. Black might look better, but probably too hot for my back. I already don't like leather due to breath-ability issues.

The good news is according to the salesman, Infiniti is building to order with the 2008 coupe as they did with the 2007 sedan and they will be at the dealer quicker. He said that normally they just build a bunch of units in a variety of options and colors. Then when the car first hits the dealer there are only a few units available; supply does not meet demand. However they will instead bring over a bunch of cars and have a bigger supply at the dealer.

I'm probably not explaining this exactly right and the salesman could be full of BS. To restate it another way, I'm trying to make two points:

1) The supply of G37 coupes in late August and September will be greater than in the past.2) If you want to order an exact list of options and colors it appears to be easier and faster. He thinks my car will be at the dealer in the first or second shipment of cars (late August or September).

Of course, I'm paying full sticker price which is unknown at this time. I also had to put down a $1000 deposit.

Very cool! My co-worker just put $500 down on one at a dealer in SC. He's also going to be paying MSRP. I called my dealer in NC and they said MSRP also, not that I'm going to get one, but was checking for my co-worker.

Oh, are we keeping the stang???

I'll probably sell the stang. Its been good, no real problems and low miles. This was my 3rd new Mustang GT in 18 years and was suprised that all of them were much more reliable than expected.

I learned how to work on cars when I had a 69 Mach that got me thru HS and college. Was stang-less until about 98 when we got a gt convertible for my wife. Then, I saw a cobra engine at the 35th aniv. at Lowes Motor Speedway and had to have one. What they do with the cobra is very similiar to what Shelby did back in the day. Got a used 97 cobra coupe - sold it and was stang-less again for about a year. Now, have a 96 cobra convert. Actually prefer coupes, but the wifey likes to go topless and I just wanted another cobra.I had thougt about getting a used G Coupe instead of the used G Sedan, but I would have needed to part with the cobra cause of the price difference. So, ended up getting the sedan and keeping the cobra. Also, I like the seats better in the sedan.....yes, I'm getting old

MSRP will be the only way to intially be able to purchase the new Coupe or any newly introduced model.

Thats a great deal if you can really get it.

Hey Cobra I also learned all about cars on my 1969 Mustang sedan. I rebuilt the engine, converted transmision from auto to 3 speed (only 3 fwd gears back then!), restored interior, rebuilt suspension & brakes, ect. Loved working on that car.

Ha! I'm in SD and pre-ordered one, too. I confirmed the order Monday.

Where did you buy yours? I went to Kearny Mesa. Yes, full MSRP, too, which is totally typical...same thing when I got my Audi A6 ahead of time in '04.

I actually went the fully loaded route. Everything seemed to make sense, and given the amount of time I plan to keep the car, it's "just pennies a day." I did go 5AT, though, since my wife has to be able to drive it. Red/stone is my color combination. SUPPOSEDLY, the order was placed Monday, with delivery in 3-4 months (no kidding).

I dunno whether to ask you for a lift in that sweet ride or ask you if you have any smoke!

Just joking brother... you're not old...you're "refined" and remember Age is earned!!!

G, Not a bongo in the house, lots of gee-tars though. I suppose that I need to go order a 08 coupe to get the thread back on track! Think my wife will go for that?
