i'd say about 5k.. for a oem rebuild, and about 250-275whp... of course you never know when a good deal is going to come up, and it may save you lots of money. ie, someone sells a premade turbo kit, or built engine for a lot cheaper than to piece together. But $5,000 is probably a good start... but it's been done before with around $1,200 on a stock engine. I guess it really depends how much horsepower, and reliability you want.

A really good relaible kit with a forged rebuild will run 7grand give or take. Thats with all the stuff you're going to brake or forget about along the way. It also has alot to do with your mechanical ability and DIY skills.

If I had it to do all over again, I'd do this:

1) Google2) "LS1 crate motor"3) Visa card4) But my wife makes all the real important decisions for me anyway...thank GOD.

Budget set-up $2500 under 275rwhp After that you got to get into ecu tunes and other goodies. What you need to do is buy an extra engine block. Then boost your current. If other engine block is good then run your current one as a test engine. Just don't throw a rod so you can keep the block for forged internals...

like someone else said, it all depends on what you can do by yourself. i fully built my ka with all brand new parts (rods, pistons, and everything else), AND went with the jgs turbo kit. everything i bought was brand new excpet for my wastegate, and bov. right now how my car sits, its good for 350 whp (injectors and ems limiting). i did it all for a little over 4k. that includes a 6 puck clutch, lightened flywheel, gauges, and everything else you need.

if you own a 240sx, it is my opinion that your power should be derived from a 4 cylinder (or for rb fans 6 cylinder) powerplant. American muscle, no matter how respected or powerful, does not belong in a 240sx.

I agree with that statement, but Aires might disagree.

Holla? first, please write correctly. It really takes away from what you are trying to say. Second, talk to Aires, he will know.

No one knows (or cares) if the hood is closed.

350hp is 350hp, regardless of how it's made.

The LS1 is also significantly lighter than the KA.

Installing an LS1 is even cheaper if you can skip the Hinson kit and fab your own mounts, ect...

I put forged pistons and rods, bolts, studs, vavles, valve springs, cams, cam gears, complete turbo kit (includes 555 injectors, fuel rail, fuel pump, and all the small odds and ends) Emanage Ultimate, clutch, and exaust for about 10,000 and some change.
