just needing a bit of help

I was just wondering if anyone could help me out with this. When I bought my car the previous owner told me the truck doesnt stay shut and of course would need to be fixed he had it shut using a wire hanger so after I got the car home I cut the hanger to see what the problem was turns out that the release cable for the trunk and gas release had been taken out and was just sitting there in the trunk... anyway, so long story short the lever for the trunk and gas cap doesnt work. also i think it may need a new trunk latch and striker so I was wondering if anyone knew how to reinstall the release cable because i'm planning on getting a new latch and striker soon. Anyway, help would be greatly appreciated thanks
