Just my new 240... has weird noise...

i know its comming from the rear end.... the guy said he changed the stock rear end with teh j30...... every time i downshift to slow down i hear a clunk... at first i thought it was my spare tire..... but it wasnt....

need help.

its your rear diff. there was a thread on this like 5 days ago, do a search.

Is there a whine when you back off the throttle? If there is I would say that your rear gears are not shimmed correctly...

i would guess your u joint(s) or cv axles. could also be a diff mounting bushing.

mine has a whine when i let off the accel at around 40mph, if i let off on the highway, or going lower i do not hear it. is that what you are talking about?

stock gears that have never been removed should be quiet as a mouse. But aftermarket...like my Nismo 4.64 gears, most of the time will have even a faint whine to them...mine were not shimmed perfectly when installed so i have a loud whine when decelerating and the gears grind a little when i reach about 110....but if there is no whine than you can throw the gear prediction out.

i figured it out... it was missing some bushings

hmm.. mine is stock as far as i can tell... the prev owner lived on a farm and his wife had owned it before they got married, and now they sold it... but i hear a whine when i decellerate so maybe its some bushing that is doing this? i know it is coming from the rear. its not a very loud whine but its noticable
