There's not too many meets that happen in NorCal that are exclusively for NICO. You might want to check Norcal240sx.net. I just attended one of their meets this past weekend and it was awsome. Most of the time the NorCal meets end up being groups from several different forums. But for some reason NICO, the biggest forum, always has the lowest number of representation Somebody solve this problem!

Nico members in california are drifting away to other clubs with more local meets. Due to the amount of clubs in california the nico members tend to spread out and not come together as a group. I myself have become more involved with a very local group to sacramento whos forums are private. Nico for california members is an online community unless you want to travel all over the US to find/see what you can anywhere in california at just about anytime of the year.

I have my own theories as to why CA doesn't have real successful CA meets, and unfortunately it has less to do with who hosts it and more to do with the mentality of the residents...

Seems CA folks won't go to something unless it's held in THEIR little area.

For the most recent meet in Phoenix, we had people from Utah, New Mexico, Nevada, Texas and Georgia come out, most of whom DROVE. No CA attendees.

However, we have plans for a major meet on the west coast next season, we'll just see if anyone steps up to help organize it.

thats actually quite true...havng grown up in the bay myself, i have noticed that a bit. it seems that unless thats its truely a GIGANTIC meet of some sort (like the nissan/datsun meet at mt. st helens) people dont really seem to like goin too far just for a meet....

All very true. The funny thing is, I always see people saying "I'll go if it's a big meet". But then you have to wonder how many other people are saying that. Luckily the meets I have been to - though they weren't exclusively Nico - have been awsome.

The only thing that bothers me is that of all the Nico members I've met, I've met more in one day in Indiana than I've met in Cali in the 2 years I've been on Nico. Of all the meets I've been to, only 3 other Nico members have ever shown up. I think there's a lot more to that than just people not wanting to drive out of their areas. Especially considering how many people on Nico live in NorCal.
