I am back in the full time active Army now.
(This after a reserve "mobilization" that cost me civilian engineering job  ... long story)

But now i don't care anymore, am stationed on Fort Belvoir and intend to take full advantage on the great absence of gun control in this fine state, uhm I mean, "commonwealth". :naughty:

Curious where the car "scene" is around here...

Fred.. :)

PS; Anyone can PM me for my cell.

Damn Fred that sucks about the civilian Engineering job.

What are your current duties? Still the mad scientist of chemical engineering?

Thanks guys.

I have a really impressive job title now in the army and its really appropriate for the next higher grade but it is still nearly the same stuff I did before.
Just came off a little hardship this year when things went south but now that things are normalized again, i am checking out cars again.
Still have my Z33 but crave another Nissan/Infiniti..

Noticed some outgoing model year Max's can be had for good prices , especially stripper models, saw one 6 k under MSRP!
or might buy a second Z33 as my daily not sure yet.
Prices will keep falling for both next 2 months I am sure...

Fred..:)

Yup, we likes our guns there. I'll be back in december. Let me know if you want to hit the range and let some lead fly.

I go to this range. http://www.blueridgearsenal.com/

If you don't have any guns they have some great rentals. They even have a select fire HK416.

I am planning to buy a Revolver pretty soon, a S&W Model 65 or Ruger GP100 series or equivalent.
I've owned both revolvers and pistols but revolvers just seem to have more "soul".

One of the Admins on the other side has a very nice M4 clone for sale I might consider that as well.
Thanks for the link :)

I dont know anything about scenes but if you wanna drive your car, I can direct you to several different places. In fact, one of the final events of the season is Nov 6th. If this is something you'd be interested in, hit me up and I can get you situated.

I can PM you a link to a local forum. Its a forum for mid-atlantic 240sx owners, but really any nissan is welcome. Good group of guys, a lot of VA members too. There are a bunch of drift-guys on there, but cool people nonetheless.

Fred, you're now in closer range to VIR, one of the nicest tracks in the east.
(not far from Danville). Audi is hosting a weekend HPDE there 11/11-12 on their full course if you're interested in scuffing off a 32nd or two.

dam I think I joined mid-atlantic 240 years ago. I think the lack of traffic in the forum killed any interest, but I know some people close to home that are regulars on the site.

Also for all of those in the area. Imports vs Domestics is in the first week of November 4-6 at MIR, but the 6th is the day to go. I go every year and its a real good time not to mention the car show, bikini contests, and sometimes jello wrestling :naughty:

VA cops are a bunch of bored bastards on a powertrip. I have MD plates, since I live in MD drrr, and I went to VA once to meet up with a friend. Some idiot cop pulled me over for my exhaust being to loud, and I was like ummm did you not see my tags, I'm from MD..... He gave me a "warning", and let me go, as if he could do anything about it in the first place.

I don't live in NoVa i'm in Richmond but the cops here and in surrounding counties are powertripping a-holes as stated. If you get pulled for anything it's unlikely you'll leave with just one ticket. I heard that the only thing that generates more income for virginia than speeding tickets is the lottery but never bothered looking it up for truth.

I'll say!!

Seriously Fairfax County cops have nothing better to do than pull people over for exhaust and tinted windows, trust me on that. I have sooo many exhaust tickets. Even if you have legal tint, you will get pulled eventually just as a check. A few friday or saturday nights of the year you will see swarms of FFXC cops and people pulled over every mile or so up Rt 1. If your lucky you'll get 3 seprerate pulls in 1/4 mile with 3 cops a piece. From what I hear, military cops arent as harsh but you always have those cocky MPs that think they are above the law because of their jobs and location.

Depends on the town or city you are in.
Some cops try to find things to nit-pick. Watch your speed more at the beginning or end of a month then the middle.
Also definitely have a front plate whether you have a va plate or not. They are dumb about that. Keep all stickers up to date and you should be good. Also I think NOVA does more emissions testing, southside definitely does not.

Like down in Hampton Roads it varies alot depending on which of the 7 cities you are in. VB seems to have more Racist cops than Norfolk. Just ask locals about the cop situation and they may have more tips for your area. But yeah don't F with VA cops.

Also as a side note to what Adam said, Issueing tickets is the Cops money maker...Also DUI checkpoints. I have seen tons of commercials for DUI checkpoints, so if they can afford to run alot of commercials then you know they are banking on the misfortune of others.

I'll have to <find> my front plate..
its probaly packed up in some box I hope I still have it.
Never put it on the Z yet.
LEO's just see all the sponsorship stickers and want to talk about the car.
( well not all of them.. I did get a front plate ticket already... but they are no moving violations yes??)

Well, I have been back a couple of weeks now and I have seen a ton of police activity. It's either this area has gotten more crime-ridden since I left or the cops are finding more reason to mess with people. Whatever the reason, I don't like it.

I don't think crime is to blame, just cops want job security so they need steady income* in these hard times.

*your income

Serve and protect? Seems more to represent Firefighters than VAPD. I'm not saying I don't appreciate what they do, I know thier job is hard, especially if your commanding officer its talking quotas.

Look at the DUI laws and tell me that's not about money.

Grasshopper, EVERYTHING is about money. I do my best to avoid situations where I will be compelled to give anyone any of mine. Government has screwed up and they look to the average citizen's to take up their slack; predictable.
