I remember at a track event driver meeting on a cloudy morning, a BMW owner asked if the windows still needed to open if it rained. Without hesitating, the head instructor replied "Yes, but that should not be a problem for BMW owners. The hot air inside will keep out the rain..." :) True story.

that is awesome. And I bet the instructor had used that line many times

The BMW douchebag driver is being threatened by the up-and-coming Audi douchebag and Nissan GTR douchebag.

All three are c*** magnets. :)

A coworker of mine bought a Z3 and said "I have a sportscar now too."
I said, "no, you have a droptop old man car."
A week later he called me.
"mate, (he's a kiwi) my seat won't slide back, what do I do."
I said, "You bought a BMW, you signed on for this."

Funny guy but terrible taste in cars.
Not all BMW drivers are ***holes. I chased one down to talk to him because his car was stunning and we wound up chatting for half an hour about both our cars. He was a cool older Japanese guy who knew all sorts of history and could explain anything on the car. They are out there, I met one! I think he was in one of these.

nobody likes other idiots making them look bad and having to deal with the stereotype. As a 180SX driver, I feel their pain.

Saw this a few days ago on /o/

Guess Beemer Bro was driving fast because he was angry, not for fun.

Under such a situation not losing a Mazda3 can be frustrating I'm sure.

Usually a Mazda would have lost an apex seal so he was frustrated.

I use to make fun of rotaries until I drove my friend's RX-7 at an autocross. We both drove it, meaning that thing saw 12 laps on a 50 second course. We beat the s*** out of it, and it survived with no harm done.

What class was it in?

Beating the crap out of a car and it surviving an autox course not really a badge of honor for the vehicle... Depending on how good of an autocrosser you are too will determine if the car even got a thrashing at all.

Not a big fan of the title of the thread, there are douchebags that drive all makes of vehicles. I'm a BMWCCA autocross instructor and every one of my students has been nothing short of pleasant in terms of personality.

You know the annoying beep they make? Every time he drove it, it was going nuts. Me, I shifted when I heard it.. Also, keep in mind this was on a flight line on an extremely hot day. Most cars were being shut off and having the hood lifted between runs. His car didn't get a chance to until they switched classes. If I remember right, we were in GS class. It was an all stock 2nd gen RX-7 Vert.

Z3 is a sweet car, and he would have had the same issue with the Miata. Both are "sports cars" by every measure. Guy was just a retard.

You probably would have cried.

I have to give the Mazda driver credit for not escalating the situation. Plus, with a camera, he clearly intended to upload the footage. He had the foresight to not involve himself in something illegal (assault) while filming.

Uhhhhh, surviving 10 minutes of non-consecutive hard driving should not really be the mark of a reliable motor...

That's like a normal day for any of my cars.

Anyway, shutting off a LIQUID-COOLED engine with the intention of IMPROVING cooling is retarded. Unless it's an air-cooled engine, parking it and letting it run is going to do a much better job. Cars have fans for a reason: to move air across the radiator when stopped. Turning the engine off just lets the hot coolant soak in the hot engine and the radiator soak in its own hot air. You're not moving coolant, and certainly not moving air. That's called "heat soak" and it doesn't help anything.

Only idiots go looking for fights, especially while filming. The BMW driver was asking him to pass. That's win-win...win. Just pass the guy and get on with life. Now, wow...look! He's not a problem anymore. Escalating the confrontation would have achieved nothing of benefit. Especially since anyone dumb enough to STOP on a CURVED stretch of mountain road can't be operating on all cylinders. You can't reason with stupid, so when it hands you the opportunity to escape its reach on a silver platter, you DON'T refuse.
