I just lost to a Saturn. We started from a stoplight...I wasn't really sure if he was gonna run. My launch was terrible, but I took my defeat like a man.

We only got up to maybe 60-70mph, so it wasn't very dangerous. He took off with his wheels spinning while I was basically taking off from idle. He pulled about a car length on me and it was obvious that he took the victory. I was trying though, but like I said my launch was non-existent. He said he had a Throttle body and intake. I believe he also had exhaust. My S14 has just cat-back exhaust on it.

Shouldn't I have beaten this guy if I launched? He also had another guy in his car. I was alone. Also, he had a fire extinguisher and one of those stupid mufflers with the LEDs and he had a monster tach. He had some stupid stickers on it too, so basically it was riced out.

I'm willing to accept the fact that I can't drive very well yet, but someone please tell me that with the above mods, his car is not faster than mine. I know he could have had something serious on it, but I don't think so.

p.s. Everyone knows that street racing is dangerous and illegal and all that other stuff. Please don't flame me with the obvious.

Ummm, bro... you have a heavy car. I think the S14 is close to 3000 pounds. The only experience I have to compare it to is driving my KA24DE powered S13, on a recently refreshed engine. That thing didn't make any real discernable torque until about 4000 RPMs, and then it seemed to start falling off right around 6000-6500.

In order to take a lot of the lighter cars around, you'll have to develop some driving skills... and a go-fast budget. =) Might I suggest a direct-port nitrous setup? :icesangel

My dads saturn is a hell of a lot fast than my 240 (not for long :evilhaha ) those plastic body panals weigh alot less than the 240s metal.

I race my dad every once and a while and he always kicks my ***, and his car is stock (but its got a 3 liter v-6)

The old SC2's are surprisingly quick. I almost bought one before I found my 240SX. The 93's are listed at about 2400lbs with 124hp & 122 ft lbs of torque. That's really not bad at all, but I don't know how accurate those numbers really are.

maybe the honda ricers will start to understand why real honda and other car enthusiasts cring when we see them, the first time a riced out Saturn, Cavalier or Fucus with a monster tach and pedal covers cahllanges them at a light.

yeah, i took down an economy car today... i think it was this kid's mom's car. there were five kids crammed into this early model accord and this kid was revvin the hell outta the motor and lurching a bit. so i'm sitting here on my CBR and lookin over at these morons... the light turns and he punches it and spins the tire a bit as i slowly roll on the throttle in first until about 11000rpm, let off abruptly, pull the throttle wide open and pull a nice big fat kiss my A** wheelie past them punk fools who are on the road for no other reason than to pester people. they showed me. then again, when you ride a bike, it's pretty common to see people act tough towards you. still dont know why though...

I raced a Saturn once.....it had headers, exhaust, and intake. We were dead even until 90 where I slowly walked away. I think the saturn was also a 2.4 liter. At the time I had a cai and n1 exhaust. I was suprised at how well the Saturn did.

whoa whoa, s14s barely weight 2800 lbs buddy, make sure u got your data right b4 u post it. i have car and driver, road and track and various other sources detailng the s14's specs. and my s14weighs at a scant 2700 approx. mine is non -ABS and i took out stuff i dont need from the engine and body, etc. anyways, i own a 95 SC2 and it isnt bad at all. i purchased it cuz it only had like 65k miles and was being sold for like $3200 and it is a very reliable car so i decided to take itwhile i was looking for my s14 (i was looking for like a year and then i found one like 2 months later!! but compared to civics (i dont hate on civics though cuz my friend has one) they are much more repsonsive and arent too slow. but yeah i never got to race myself hehe my dad drives the saturn now and he dont like racing. also, back when i was still driving my 5 spd SC2, i actually saw another kid with a 94 i beleive that was modded up, i gave him props snce he was being different. and not to mention, there are performance parts u can buy for it and performance specialists for the saturns. i dont think its too bad a FF sports car if u ask me.

Hey man, sorry to hear about the Saturn Loss, my advice would just be to take ricers like that seriously, and maybe get yourself either some better street rubbers or a few pieces under the hood to help you make sure that you dont lose again. If you see that kid again, whoop him good

My '95 weighs 2900 lbs with me in it, and I weigh 200 lbs, which puts the S14 somewhere around 2700 lbs (weighed at emissions). I have to admit, I never lost to a Saturn though. Before I did the swap my best times were 14.9 - 15.1 with intake, header, exhaust, and unorthodox crank pulley (open diff and STOCK CLUTCH too).

I will be up and running with the SR as soon as I get my harness back from HT. Gonna be interesting what will happen then. :D

those saturns dont have TAHT bad of motors in them, and they weigh next to nothing, the sc2 comes with a 1.9 liter rated at 13ohp and 122ft lbs of torque i believe, and with that weight, the power to weight ratio isnt bad at all, just takes a good drive, i tell u what, a stock sc2 would KILL a stock civic ANYDAY!! and hurray for that

A Saturn?? Is that what we're talking about a Saturn!!! !! Just to post my personal opinion which everyone might not see things my way, but if I got beat by a Saturn I would ether charge up evey credit card I have to insure that that never happened again or I would part out my car and sell everything to the highest bidder and buy me a differant car. But since I don't plan on ever getting rid of my 240, I'd probably go head first in to debt. It's not very likely that there is a Saturn around that will be even close enough to eat my dust before it settles back on the ground.

I don't understand... "WHY A SATURN!?" There great economy cars, and a great family sedan, but that's about it. Why are people "ricing" out domestics? Is this another fad gone bad and over board? Can someone please tell me why a Saturn with aftermarkets is cool?
