ok guys im having the same problem as a bunch of other people but here goes... I just installed my motor, its turning over, has spark, has fuel, has MAF power but still not starting. could this be the CAS??? the plug is a little messed up because the car that had it was crashed. how can i test it?

sorry if this was already posted, no time to search thanks in advance

Well thats good or bad depending on how you want to look at it, 55 is an all good code.

Is fuel reaching the pistons? Does the spark plug tip smell like gas? Was the CAS ever removed?

Well if the plugs are firing then the CAS is working. Could you have just flooded the engine?

Sometimes when an engine hasnt been started in awhile the fuel will dump into the cylinders flooding the plugs. Too much fuel causes the plugs to not be able to fire for awhile. A few ways to remedy this are 1)Burn the electrodes clean of gas and other buildup, 2) Try to dry the plugs with something (air, towel), 3) Let the gas evaporate off the plugs inside the engine, can take a few minutes.

This has happened to me before a few times, but chances are this is not your problem because it is uncommon.

Is the engine catching at all or just cranking?

How did you confirm it had spark and that the injectors were firing?

i pulled out the plug, left it in the wire, grounded it and turned over the motor and it sparked. and i put my ear next to the injectors while someone cranked it. they were ticking

battery seems to be good, the motor was just running fine a couple weeks ago out of my roommates car that was crashed so i dont think the timing would be off

Wiring on the SR is good? Is compression still good? Plugs fouled?

the car just ran very recently with good compression. wouldnt the plugs not spark if they were fouled?

Fuel filter is not likely, usually fuel lines get crossed on accident, but you can switch back if you would like. Plugs will fire when they are not in good shape, but the condition of the electrodes and tips can have an effect on how the engine runs. Did the ECU, wiring, and all the other componants come with the engine?

everything came with the motor... there is a couple sensors on the transmission i had to splice and havent hooked up yet but that wouldnt make it not start right???

None of those sensors affect the engine running.

Its tough to try and diagnose over the internet. If you have fuel, spark, proper timing, plugs that havent been flooded, and a good battery the car should at least catch. Coolant temp sensor can sometimes cause the ECU to give the wrong amount of fuel thinking the car is cold starting or warm starting.

Is it S13 SR into S13? No wiring was modified since it last ran? You can hear the fuel pump running in with the key in the on position?

The off the wall stuff would be next, things like crossed fuel lines, major vacuum leaks, things blocking the intercooler pipes (like a sock, I have seen it), some messed up wiring somewhere.

Try reversing the fuel lines up at the engine.
