Hey guys, new to the forum. I have one concern. I just recently installed my new K&N Typhoon Intake on my 2011 Altima coupe 2.5S and don't get me wrong, I love the sound and I know I am driving more aggressively to hear it(I can not help it lol). But I keep seeing things like I need to get it tuned for the new airflow. Half are saying yes and half are saying no. I dont mind getting it done if I need to but does it actually make a difference? I feel like I could get more power out of it if so. Thats the only other mod I have on it besides my 2J Racing Lightweight Crankshaft pulley. What do you think???

Hey welcome to the forum! I signed up today too. Anyway to answer your question: no. You have the 2.5 (like me) and I asked a Nissan Master Technician at the dealership where I am if I ever needed a tune for my car. He said no because it's the four cylinder so any aftermarket performance won't make enough of a difference to need a tune. IF you decide to get one (I'm not going to) then you should wait until all of your performance parts are installed because then your tune would be useless.

Also, did that crankshaft pulley make much of a difference for you? Could you tell?

Ah okay cool, yea I can tell a difference with the intake and it just sounds oh so good lol. There is a little dash vibration in a certain RPM range and Im trying to figure out how to make it go away. Nothing on the intake is touching each other or the heat shield. I guess its just the frequency of the intake sound making it vibrate. I may can Dynamat under the dash, whatever is used for deadining sound for speakers. Maybe that will work. But anyway, the pulley not so much. I bought the 2J racing one because it was red lol even though you can barely see it if you try but the mechanic that put it on for me even told me that it would be better being that much lighter. That the engine wouldnt have to work so hard to turn it. So for only the 90 for the part and 60 for installation made it okay. Cheap and efficient upgrade I guess you could say lol. I would recommend it.

Nothing to tune....just add a nice axle or catback, and a few suspension upgrades to make the car a bit more fun to drive. :yesnod

Do you have any suggestions for the dash rattle? And yea probably going to go with the Borla or Stillen axle back. Been looking for headers everywhere but can't really find any. Would like stillen but clicking on the pic of the product on their website does not do anything?Any suggestions on that too? and if I do go with axleback muffler, can I eventually redo all the piping from the header or manifold(whatever I have once i get exhaust) to the muffler to make it a full exhaust system?

I had that same rattle after I put in my intake actually. I took it to a dealership to see if they could find it or fix it and they couldn't. They would have to remove the dash to get to it and that's overly expensive for just that (around $600) so I'm living with it. You don't notice it after a while and eventually it does down so it's not as pronounced.

As for headers and an exhaust: I have the OBX headers and OBX catback exhaust. It's the best and it makes my car sound like an absolute beast. You can trust the OBX headers and exhaust. I've had them on for a while now. If you get the exhaust though, have them put a resonator in it because it drones on the highway but adding a resonator will solve that problem easily.

The stillen website problem you mentioned is because stillen only shows what they have in stock on their website. If you google stillen Altima coupe headers and go to a website that is not stillen and is selling them, you should be fine. It would be better for you to get exhaust and a header from the same company because then you KNOW they're compatible. I 110% recommend OBX for your exhaust and headers. They're much cheaper than stillen and are just as nice. The startup of your car will sound godly if you do that. Trust me ;)

Also if you go with the OBX catback and header from the start, it should be around or near the price for just the stillen axle back. 2 for the price of one (basically half cuz OBX is catback instead of axleback) is what got me. Go with OBX. Yes they're a knockoff company but they're a good one. At least for our cars they are.

But does the OBX catback sound just as good? Could you post a video or anything? I wanted to NISMO but apparently they dont make it for ours anymore. But I just wanna get something to keep the nissan sound cause it sounds like an Infinity or 350 kinda to me so I dont want to take that away and make it sound ricey haha. Thinking about red brake calipers but cant find any for the front. Ones I found was for the rear lo. I dont wanna paint them. Would really just like a better looking red caliper.

I'm in class right now but I can post a video for you later today if you want. It has a resonator now so it's not ricey at all. Give me about 4 hours and I'll have that video up for you

Make sure you ask the muffler shop to put on the stock resonator or else it will drone badly.

Hey one more question, the mesh filter wrap from K and N that goes over the filter, is it worth buying? I feel like for some reason it would cut down on the air flow? What do you think? Or do you know anyone that has ever used one?
I was trying to post a pic of the wrap but cant figure out how. Let me know how to unless you know what I'm talking about

Honestly the filter wrap won't do anything except partially restrict air flow. It's not worth it imo. I wouldn't worry about it. I never really even considered it as something to get. Plus it'll look better under the hood without it

The filter wrap is only worth it if you live in somewhere with very dusty conditions or super dirty air (visible pollutants)
