i know, i know,,,,finally installed the front strut tower brace!!!

the install wasn't bad at all. a little trial and error. this is the one for a 2000 maxima so you definitly have to modify the "feet" to make the bolts on the Q fit. i not only had to drill new holes, but like greg warned me about, had to elongate the new hole and one of the pre-drilled holes. not really a big deal. just have to make sure the "feet" line up with each other and it fits around the small "lip" on the strut tower. again, not that bad. when lining up the brace, i had a friend hold it where i wanted it to be, kept it around 1/2 inch off the plenum, marked where the new holes should be drilled,,,,,,,,,,did the drilling, used a band saw to shorten up the "ears", tightend it all down, and WHALLA!!! DONE! really not hard at all. since it was getting late, i kept it as is, but i'll go back tomorrow and file everything down and maybe a little touch up black paint where i drilled and sawed. will also be doing a total engine detailing (the weather is going to be great this weekend in the northeast!!!!! yeah!!!

as for the improvement in handling,,,,,,,incredible! well worth it! felt it immediatly!! almost like a "point and shoot" thing. with good tires, and diving in a turn, it's like laser guided now!!! you can feel the nose just grabbing, and tracking through a tight turn. the best $20 i spent on the Q!!!!! would be nice if we had a custom brace for the Q, but mine really doesn't look that bad. i'll try to get some pictures this weekend with the cleaned up engine!! very happy!jeff

Snif,,, I feel so proud of you. I was amazed at the improvement it made in my car, and I had worn out struts, and tension rods.

The 7" wheels, Tokiko Blues, upper links, new bushings, and new tension rods, REALLY make it tight.

But nothing compares to the $20 mod, of adding that brace.

It feels good to help other brothers out.

I want to see when BRM comes out with their bar. I'm too much of a lazy arse to modify a Maxima bar. Plug and play for me. When do you think it will be ready, Hitman?

Has anyone tried to do this mod to a J30? I'm wondering if the Maxima FSB will fit the J30.
