Well i picked a HUD unit at the local junkyard. Went to install it an OMFG is the dash on these S13's a pain. You hafta pretty much remove the whole front of the car, practically did. But Wired it up an it works fine. Got late so I just have the cluster an projector in im gonna try an repair my dash an cut the hole for the projector tomorrow. Ill prolly paint it while its out because its too much of a pain in the a$$ to take it out again. I just cant get over what a pain it is to get the dash out. But H.U.D is pretty cool. I got it off a 89 an I put it in my 93. One thing Id like to kno is if anyone knows like what I could use as the lil square film piece that H.U.D units come with on the windshields. I thought you could just peel it off but it was like inside the windshield. So I was wondering if I could put some tint or clear tape or what there to clear up the image, thanks. I was also wondering do they only come in the coupe?

you could get the whole windsheild ($$$), or be ghetto and tape a peice of paper to your window (super cool :D ). Of course there are other ways of doing it but they arent any fun talking about.

thatd be an idea but we busted out the windshield to get the screws out lol. But I can see the numbers fine on the windshield I just wondered if like tape would make em clearer.

Well, if you wanted a clearer picture you could purchase the film used with the Defi V.S.D heads-up display system. (http://www.defi-shop.com/product/vsd/vsd_top.htm)

Just a thought, btw...

its really not that necessary i've got hud on my car but the windshield was replaced with one that wasn't for hud, it is still clear i have no problem reading it at all

but i guess if you really wanted to, go to a local auto store and buy some tint and put it on yourself

oh btw, how hard a job was removing the dash, i want to get a hatch soon and they didn't come with hud but i'd like to switch my dash from my coupe to the hatch, just want to see if it's worth the trouble

yashin- the dash is a huge pain. You must remove everything from center consol up. You hafta make sure all the bolt an screws are out an trust me there are plenty. There are 2 screws that the vents in the back are held in by an those are a pain to get out. I didnt pull my steering wheel so it made it alil more difficult. If you wanna make it easier id definatly pull the steering wheel.

I took out my cluster without having to remove the whole dash, it wasn't bad. I could probably take out the HUD too because it's right there behind the spot where the cluster was, and everything is unplugged. But i do not know.

i took my cluster out by itself to swap out a new speedometer. an easy way to do it is drop the whole steering column itself with only a few bolts.

so the HUD displays everything on the gauge cluster? so you've basically have two gauge clusters to look at?

D1SR240-15 for the gauge cluster i pocketed everything else haha

sideshow-its easy to take it out, but im tryin to fix my dash an paint all the pieces thats y i removed everything. Yea im definatly dropping the steering column its so much easier.

TurboKA37-yea theres a speedo in the cluster an one projected up on ur window. I had it in km/h on accident but when i was doin like 85 in second I knew something was up haha.

did you switch it back to MPH?? How good does it look? I may be doing some custom gauges on the dash and would love to eliminate the speedo for the HUD. Then id just have a center tach with the temp and other gauges on the side of that. would be kick ***

Yea all you do is twist the knob for mph or kmh. Yea I really dont see the need for both speedos. Well good luck with your custom gauge I wanna see pics when ur done.
