New member here, sorry to start out with a problem but I have discovered that when I am searching for Z-related issued I usually get linked to this forum!
Last night I installed my cold air intake pipes and cone filter. The car ran fine afterwards, but as of this morning it dies unless it is in gear or I keep on the gas. It also hesitates on the highway, kind of like it is constantly push starting itself when coasting.
Here are a few things I can think of.
1) Because the factory vacuum lines were too short I replaced them with new longer ones, however I noticed the original smaller lines on both sides that run to the top of the motor had small wire-brush looking inserts inside that I assume are debris filters. I was worried about these getting sucked up into the engine so I did not put them in the new hoses.
2) These same 2 hoses are really loose on the new intake pipes. They were not last night, but this morning I easily slipped both off with my fingers.
3) The right intake pipe needs to be shifted a bit, after running today it is a little askew of the throttle body inside the top coupler. Not much but not flush either.
I am stuck at work but am going to try and address these. Are there any other things I need to check or are routine when doing a cold air intake? The MAF is in place and connected and I found no gaps in the couplers.
Thanks.
