So just as the title says I finally found a set of factory 03-05 hid lights in good shape for a reasonable price and jumped on them. I'm not a fan of the 06+ lights, they look kinda ugly to me, and I wasn't about to shell out $900 for a set.

I really couldn't find a good write up, but wiring was pretty straight forward. Just de-pinned both connectors, soldered the highbeam ground to the ballast ground, and soldered the upper parking light yellow wire to the lower parking light green/white tracer wire. and was able to plug it all into my 6 pin connector no problem.

After checking operation of the other lights I plugged in the ballast and stood back in awe at the new found lighting I had.

My Halogens were horrible and for some reason made a v in the road with the inside of the v being black. You could barely tell they were on too.

Little diy
tools for headlight set up
Sodering iron
solder
your choice of wire strippers.
shrink wrap/electrical tape for that clean and safe look
pick for depinning
paper/pen or just swap one wire at a time.

Get your car to this status

Then write down what wire goes where on the 6 pin and de-pin both connectors

should look like this now. I just depinned and swapped one wire at a time so I didn't forget where it went in the 6 pin plug.

solder the yellow wire to the green with white tracer together and the black high beam ground to the black ballast ground. and you're done.

Then clean your mess up and eat dinner before putting the car back together.

Nice writeup! I think it needs to converted into a tech article.

Funny that you upgraded to the HIDs because your base lights aren't bright enough - I was considering doing the same thing, except to the 06' lights...even if you think they're ugly. They are pricey though. Ah, if only Clear Corners weren't so expensive. :(

I hate working in bare feet, I always end up stepping on something pointy. You make it out unscathed? :)

I love being barefoot. I'm about half and half on injuries while barefoot. This time I was unscathed. But I sprained or broke a toe a couple weeks ago. Still can't curl it.

I think I say 06 lights are ugly to help justify not buying a pair. haha

I got the lights adjusted to where they should be now. It's perfect, and no one has flashed me or gave me the finger yet so I think I'm good.
