Just how much louder is a kae without the cat?

ok well my cat just blew out and now i am getting my exhaust fixed by some guy who is charging me 25 bucks to cut off the cat and put a straight pipe on it. its like 2.5 already from cat back i believe and has a big 4 inch muffler on it...unknown brand came on car when bought it haha...so how loud is this thing gonna be without the cat? i searched and didnt really find an answer.

well as you could imagine, very effin loud!the muffler you have isnt going to do much to quiet it down during WOT and it will probably be much more raspy.i had ran mine with a header/no cat/stock intermediate muffler/3 foot tall boso pipe.loud was an understatement lol...it made me laugh and was for kicks but truly,it was ridiculous.

I dont think it will be that much louder...really depends on the condition of the muffler....

You will notice the difference. It will sound better too, not just louder. I took my stock cat back off (cat still on) and drove it and it's loud as screw and backfires like crazy when I downshift. Just thought I'de throw that in there lol

got it done for 20 bucks today...its about 20 to 30 percent louder and at idle sounds alot different...way better than before...ill get a sound clip in the next few day. it feels so much nicer when accelerating and lettin off....the thing is that at school everyone thinks my car is really fast they all say " ay mane yo car got one of dem racin engines" and then i just smile and let them believe what they want. then crank up the 12s and drive out of the school parking lot.

or you could have installed a 22in resonator i have a 2.5 straight with the resonator and magna flow run really sweet,and so far i don't have cops chasing me down and i know first hand cause i drive by a pig house all the time

removing the cat on a stock car is retarded... theres no preformance benefit and all your doing is lookin like a dumb*** drivin around with a loud exaust

just get a replacement cat, the popo wont be "all up in your grill" and parents of babies wont be pissed when you cause them to go deaf

And yes i can drive...its called a restricted license and tomorrow i will be 16 and then have my real license...and i have noticed a big benefit of power when accelerating...so im guessing its not my imagination seeing as how anyone else who rides with me notices it too...the popo aint in my grill and dont even notice. and for the mom thing....thanks alot but a little less than a month a go she was diagnosed with metastatic cancer which started in her lungs then spread to her liver, lymph nodes and now is growing up her spine. She has about 3 months to live, and ya im a mommas boy so right now would not be the time to make a joke involving her. That being said i am using near all my money to help our already struggling family out with bills and dont have the money for a new cat, and the leak sent fumes into the car which isnt good so i did all i could afford. so thanks for being a ****. and thanks nifares240 but i didnt know that and its fixed for now.

KA24DE, intake, header, 2.25" exhaust, 3" muffler, no cat. My cars so loud my girl doesnt want to ride in it either. Says it gives her a headake. But it makes me smile

Im cat-less. I really don't care about the loudness, but I will never get used to wiffing horrid exhaust fumes when going in reverse with the windows down

I don't have any basis for comparision as I've never had a cat on mine, but with a test pipe and 3" pipe my KA-E is ridiculously loud. Its only beat out by all the big trucks and Harleys around here. Plus you if you open it up on the highway anyone behind you will get gassed out from the fumes.... at least thats what my friend told me after following me home once.

sorry for your moms illness and may things get better for you and your fam in the future. as for the exhuast, as long as you dont have 3" all the way wit no restrictions and a busted muffler you'll be fine wit no flames coming out the back. me on the other hand am dyin to change up my shyt. its cool wit the flames coming out the back and the nice back fire and throaty rumble but in due time you'll get tired of it. drivin 5 hrs from jersey to school at wyotech made me rethink havin my system. if you wanna get a nice system, i recommend circuit sport system that looks like stock wit 2 tips and full 3" system wit resonator. all u need is a cat. or u can go for apexi, hks, blitz or greddy. they all have nice system. oh and stay away from the round fart cans. oval mufflers do alot to disapate the sound. hope this help out.

thanks im sorry the mom thing just really got to me. but honestly its not loud only about 20 percent louder and the smell went away after a day or two...things are looking up tho. I mean my mom most likely will not be cured or have longer than a year but today she has been smiling and is finally gettin used to the medicine that hospus(sp?) has put her on and is comfortable. And on saturday (12/13/08) i turned 16 and went out for once and met an amazing girl who is into cars! and has a very nice 96 civic with custom paint and isnt ricey! shes like the perfect 10 and ya...great time.
