I just got a 920W 5-ch Kicker amp put in with an 8in Kicker sub which are mated with an Eclipse 2.7v head unit and MB Q front crossovers and rear coaxials. I notice before I added the amp/sub I didn't have to turn the volume up near as high for it to be loud. Also, before I had factory clarion amps. I now am having to turn the volume up twice as high, before it was like 24 and now its 40 on the head unit and the clarity is not much different. Anyone know why?

Your gain needs to be adjusted. Go to http://www.installer.com and look at the tech pages. Read about the gain knobs. Your answer is there.

how many volts are you sending to the amp out of head unit.and how much will the amp except.a nice line"preamp" driver could up your input voltage so that all you have to do with gains is level them.8 to 10 volt is good.4 sucks.gain is not volume nob but matches imput signal to out put.not good at explaning things, sorry.mbquart cross overs are power robbing slope sucks,so on.you would be better off maKING YOUR OWN W/PARTS FROM PARTS EXPRESS.it will sound better and you can pick the slope you want.
