I didn't know they really suggested that, but I would've called the cops anyways to get evidence in case something happens down the road. Instead of it being documented, it's your word vs. theirs.08.black.G37 wrote:I didn't get a police report. In Memphis, when it is raining and if there are no injuries, you are just supposed to exchange info.
The good news is you were able to get out of the car, I think that a car can be replaced (to a point) but personal injuries can be devastating, glad you're OK, that's the main thing.08.black.G37 wrote:I got home last night and wiped the dirt away so I could get a better look. She had one of those mirrored plates on the front of her car that cracked and it put a deep scrape in the bumper, other than that I would think the other places would polish out.
This says a lot for the quality of our cars. You can't believe how hard she hit me. It dented her bumper and hardly hurt my car. I really thought as I was getting out of my car that the whole back end was going to be crumpled up.
A few years ago in my 95 Jeep I swapped lanes and then immediately had to stop. Problem was some lady behind me also swapped lanes and couldn't stop. Just before she hit me I noticed her and let off the brake and then slammed on it just after before I rolled forward and hit someone else.zozoka1212 wrote:Glad you are ok and hope your G gets a little makeover and be good as new.
Accidents are weird. Sometimes you get hit lightly and it leaves a huge dent another time you would think your car got destroyed and she looks just fine. Has a lot to do with the angle you are getting the hit. It looks like it was a straight bumper to bumper which can absorb a lot. As mentioned before take it to the dealer to check out the frame behind the bumper. It might got pushed in. Since it supposed to absorb the hit. Look for any sign of panel gaps at the bumper, rear panel and trunk. It is usually a good indication. Sometimes all you can see your bumper on the side sticking out little more.
Not necessarily - sometimes it's easier to have your insurance deal with the first hand crap and get it out of the way while the other insurer sits on their hands, and then have your insurer subrogate the money back.biggie wrote:Everything should go through the other driver's insurance.
